Is now the time to re-launch the 40 Note Fund?

So that when Dean Wilkins returns at the start of July he has additional funds to spend this summer.

Dick Knight stated on SCR that it is less than what McGhee had last July.

It's both good and bad news. The bad part is that the headline figure for the playing budget is lower than last season.

The good news (for the budget, not the players) is that there are no players on Championship level wages anymore under the old contracts, so savings are made here.

The further bad news is that we are down £600,000 this season on TV money, as the Championship parachute payment is only for one year.

Nor me. I'm sure TLO was thinking about a quiz night recently.

TLO could get it off to a flyer by auctioning off that signed Sussex cricket bat that got mysteriously withdrawn from the 40 note Fund raffle at the last moment about a year ago

It hasn't lapsed but maybe a big push now to get people to put up the money again would result in more funds for the manager, which was the reason it wass set up in the first place.

Hmmmm and from the Argus back when Wilkins was offered his contract

The deal comes with a pledge from chairman Dick Knight of a "healthy playing budget" for next season.

So that means either McGhee wasted a lot of money or DK has been telling porkies.

Given what McGhee brought in last summer I know which one I believe to be true.

Is it any wonder that people don't want to part with their hard earned? ??

We could all contribute the money we earn from the BBC.

Which is why we need some kind of relaunch.

Any ideas Mr Wares?
I have just written to Martin Perry regarding the 5% discount donation that was mentioned on SCR. I didn't NEED to write to him aside from letting him know what we are intending to do, and whether it clashes with anything the club are doing, and re-assuring him that this would NOT be a club-sponsored 'robbing Peter to pay Paul' scenario.

I will quite happily do another quiz night - perhaps if I write it, I can let you have the same quiz, and we'll have a Brighton v Worthing quiz night. If anyone fancies doing the same thing in Eastbourne or Crawley or Haywards Heath or Tunbridge Wells or London... See who the brainiest Albion fans are?

I can even do a simple '40' design T-shirt in the style of New York college tops. More ideas from anyone on here wouldn't go amiss.

But yes, a 're-launch' is in order.

I think a Quiz Night might be fun.

Maybe Yorkie, Ned and myself could represent Newhaven, for a start.

If the board had backed the manager in January 2006 we could quite possibly have stayed in the Championship. History will show that MM f***ed up, when imo it was the board not keeping the ship afloat for a hap worth of tar.

I have no interest any more in contributing to the 40 note fund.
