I said exactly the same about Beryl bikes in a different thread recently. Include them in the travel scheme and have docking stations at the Amex and the station in addition to the existing ones on the Uni campuses.

Actually used one of those bikes from Stanmer park to the Old Steine recently and the journey took less than 20 minutes. Electric bike and it is ever so slightly downhill the whole way along Lewes Road.

Fair point about the illegally parked cars. That section, where there's a parade of shops, opposite Saunders Park, every time i've cycled down there i've had to go into the bus lane, because a delivery driver has flicked their hazards on and double parked in the cycle lane

They're usually parked by people going to the chemists there. Don't think I've cycled through there without someone double parked there.

There appeared to be some bike racks in the bus/coach car park on saturday that i'd never noticed before, and were pretty empty when arriving at 2pm. Also right near the security/stewards station, so you'd imagine putting your bike there would be safe.
Oh, whereabouts are they? There has long been some bike parking space right at the edge of the car park near the top entrance, but it's those terrible racks that are only ever installed by people who don't cycle, which don't enable you to lock your frame to the rack because they are so low.
