Morning,

Nerdy geek statto thread alert.

We seem to be moaning about the amount over coverage we receive on the Football League Show every week, so I decided to do some basic analysis.

Sadly there appears to be nowhere where I can view past episodes, so i've only got timings for the past 2 episodes.

I've only measure the 'package' time - so highlights, associated feature and post match interview - so it doesn't include any in studio analysis or discussions.

I don't know if this is something worth persevering with, and whether it'll show much, but here are the raw figures.

15th Sept 2012

  1. Cardiff 08:28
  2. Leeds 08:28
  3. Charlton 04:32

I don't know if anyone out there has the previous episodes still on their Sky Plus / Virgin box, to get the rest of the season?

As we haven't featured in a main match yet, its hardly suprising

tippy tappy across the back four will not be aired on FL show.
Efforts on goal will.
I'd like to see a league table of the BBC stats - shots / shots on target / corners - this is the stuff the the FL show will broadcast

I reckon we'll get top billing when we play one of the three tough matches in succession - Middlesbrough, Leicester or Blackpool.

Every team seems to moan about their lack of coverage on the FLS. It's like penalties and referees, every team thinks they have it the worst, when in actual fact it does tend to be pretty similar for everyone over the course of a season

All that shows is that each week there are one or two matches that get quite a bit more coverage than any others. Last week we played on Friday night, so were never going to feature heavily on a Saturday programme, and this week we played one of the least attractive teams in the league in Millwall. We probably won't get on next week, as your numbers show that Birmingham were one of the two main matches this week so they won't want to show them again.

We'll struggle to be the main game next week with Cardiff at home to Blackpool which is probably the strongest overall fixture from a neutral perspective. But I'm certain we'll get our fair share of OB games if we stick at the top for a couple of weeks.

I don't want top billing. I'd prefer us to sneak under the radar. Let them show Bolton, Brum, Wolves, Leeds, Blackburn etc etc All the time they're in the spotlight, the focus is taken off the flairmeisters. We can then go about our business as the dark horses of the Championship

Seriously, who CARES?

If its A) because you are desperate to see a few more seconds of highlights of our games - then get Seagulls Player for 50p a week, or whatever it is.

If its B) because you are just feeling needy, and are all upset that we are not getting enough attention - then get a life.

What gets me is they show more action from some games in Leagues One and Two than they do from ours. Not that those games shouldn't be covered, but with ours you get the goals and maybe one other 'chance', whereas in other matches they show considerably more. Surely games involving the top sides in the Championship should get more coverage?

We are also unlikely to be a featured match next weekend as they chose Birmingham this week.
