People in Manchester are still grumbling that the First Test should have been played there. I understand the reason they chose Cardiff was that Lancs were proposing to have Oasis to sing the National Anthem.

But then in the Gallagher brothers they've got two bigger tits than even Katherine Jenkins has.

Seriously it's not surprising they chose Cardiff, in the Lancs 4-day game at Old Trafford yesterday the first day saw 18 wickets fall. A Test on the same pitch could have been over by now, with a consequent loss of revenue...

And England one down probably, so at least we might get a draw out of this. AND a decision to put Harmy back where he belongs.

Quite amusing that sections of the media and a lot of England fans thought we would do well just because they didn't recognise any names in the Australian line-up. Misplaced confidence, indeed.

You can never write off the Aussies but the bowlers have under-performed here.

Hopefully the weather and the middle order can secure a draw and we can regroup. Fortunately in Matt Prior we have a bloke who can do the work of a No. 7 and 8 batsman in one go - 11 knocks of 50+ in 29 innings is superb.

Harmison for Monty in the next test is a no-brainer, for me.
