How much of the tax payers money? and still no answer yet. Far from a "total victory" in my eyes. But I don't appear to have the same faith as you when it comes to this!
I don't understand the reference to "the tax payers money".

Tax payers don't pay for Public Inquiries - although any individual public body that chooses to participate will have to cover its own costs. Most of the costs associated with the Inquiry have to be met by the Football Club.

Surely ....

- The Civil Servants involved in the process at Prescotts offices salaries are from Tax payers money.

- B&H Council have ( correctly ) used tax payers money for fight their corner.

- Lewes Council have used tax payers money to fight their corner.

That's a fair bit of tax payers money in mind !

Indeed. But the costs of Prescott's Office don't go up because this Inquiry lasts for months. The ODPM deals with tens of thousands of Planning Inquiries every year. This one is just a small part of their work.

Local authority spending on Public Inquiries is normally absorbed in the overall costs of running a Planning Department. Only when councils decide to engage external expert consultants and lawyers do avoidable costs start to be incurred. As you say, both the City Council and Lewes DC are incurring costs (although - as a supporter of the planning application - much of the City Council's evidence will draw on information that the Football Club have paid their consultants to gather).
