If I was going to vote today ... I'd still vote 14,000 - 16,000.

I genuinely fear that the effect of the SUPERB direct debit offer will be that a large number of season ticket purchasers will only show up when they're in the mood.

A lot of season ticket holders will treat their purchase a bit like county cricket club membership. You pay for free admission to every home league game, but only go to some of them.
It's a fair point, but your maths are shocking. Assuming we sell half the non-season ticket seats sale available (including aways) then you're assuming that 4,000-6,000 of pre-paid season tickets on average will go unused every game!

I can see the unused ticket figure being in the hundreds, not thousands. I find it inconceivable that the no shows will be that significant. The comparison with the cricket is not really like for like as most games (esp this season!) are played when people are at work.

It is 10% at withdean, so I would say that it will be in the thousands at falmer, just not quite to the degree LB is suggesting. You do have to consider that a lot of people who are not really massive supporters of the club have bought season tickets.

I think you also need to consider that at Falmer any season ticket holder who can't make a match is likely to have a few people very eager to use his or her ticket given the low number of match day tickets available. For a few years at Withdean I couldn't even give my ticket away.

Another factor has to be the weather. Much less likely to deter people at Falmer.

14000-16000 is astonishingly pessimistic IMO given that over 20000 tickets will have been sold for most games.

Some of these projections are wildly optimistic.
To get to an average gate of 15000, could take 8-10 years, based on regular Championship football and even a flirt with the Premiership.
We have gradually lost support in the last 20 years and thats going to take a long time to build up again.

SO FAR
2011-12 Average home gate 20,154

Thank goodness the likes of TB, MP etc had faith

To be fair to most, it was always a difficult shout as we did not know the league we would be in let alone what TB was going to let his manager spend.

Well he has got the train on the tracks and full up we just need plenty of coal in it to keep it going!
