Would Fabian Hurzeler be a good replacement for RDZ?

I find it unfathomable that the concept of opposing prejudice is considered political at all. I don't think Albion has any political leaning. I just see it as a club that promoted good community relations.
These are attributes you generally find from a more humanistic standpoint which encompass far more left of centre concepts than right. The confusion arises because anyone who has a modicum of concern for the planet and the life that dwells on it is considered a Marxist by the right wing media, left of centre is a long way from being socialist.

Exactly the generosity and inclusivity I was referring to. 👍

Absolute troopers.
Their fans on the forum are both realistic and generous, I wonder if we would demonstrate this level of 'emotional intelligence'? I love the last comment here!

...as is the simpleton's view that anything right of centre is akin to being a card carrying nazi.

I think Brighton do have a left wing edge, but are generally apolitical, most if not all, are anti racism, homophobia etc, making the football club solely left wing like St Pauli does not indicate a broad church. I know a very left wing German bloke who supports HSV, they’re not really a right wing club. St Pauli do irritate me a bit, but I have no issue with them, I prefer the herd mentality and city representing Marseille, rather than them. I’m probably far left (according to people on here) but I think it would be unnecessary to be like that, Brighton is currently in my opinion very representative of the city and surrounding area, and like in the original point, I don’t want a global brand and fan clubs in every city because of that. I want a local football club where people from all walks of life in the city can afford to attend.
Being anti racist or anti homophobia doesn’t make you left wing. It makes you a decent human being….
I’m centre left FWIW.

Where did I say it did? I’m pretty sure I said, support is generally apolitical while being anti racism and homophobia, in basically the first line, while having a slight left wing edge.

Let’s face it, our supporters are too mild mannered and inoffensive to ever be compared to any of those clubs. But I would only be delighted if we were closely associated with the progressivism of the city. (Edit: And I think we are, by many.)
It’s quite enlightening to hear the views of other clubs’ fans regarding Brighton as a club and also as a city. Not only have we been described as mild mannered and inoffensive but friendly and welcoming too. We seem to be top of the list for THE go-to away fixture of the season for many (particularly for an early or late season game with better weather). Couple that with the city offering so much in the way of entertainment and leisure that football fans will make a weekend of it rather than a down and back dash in a day.

This is probably best summed up in a Newcastle fan’s vlog when he said that coming to Brighton was his favourite away trip. He stated that Brighton fans are knowledgeable and will happily chat to you about football without the animosity that other teams’ fans offer.

My personal take on all of this was on an away visit to Stoke. After the match I got on the train to go dahn saff when I found that a load of Stokies had taken our reserved seats. I politely told them this. Now these blokes were big, hard looking ‘top boys’. They then got up and moved further down the carriage. Being the idiot I am I went over to thank them and started talking football for the next half hour. They eventually got off in ‘Dingle country’ as they called Wolverhampton! Before leaving they all shook my hand and told me Brighton fans were the best fans they’d met. Praise indeed eh!

When will he SING for us?

I think @Guinness Boy mentioned Wednesday above but could be earlier - he suggested certainly in the next couple of days providing no mishaps.

Of course, he could have signed already and everyone is just get ducks in row to deal with the inevitable press storm when the announcement is made.

Maybe we should have a "Thank you, St Pauli" banner ready.
Great idea!

This thread is going really off track btw - can we focus on Fabian Hürzeler?

(Good discussion topic but maybe we should start a separate thread discussing football clubs and their politics ?)

A decent article in the Athletic by Sebastian Stafford-Bloor.

The last couple of paragraphs:

No wonder Hurzeler caught Brighton’s eye. There are doubts, clearly. St Pauli’s training ground is so close to Hamburg airport that it was prohibited for his staff to fly drones during training sessions. The ultra-slick world of the Premier League it is not. And while Hurzeler’s age is no barrier, his temperament and fiery disposition will have to be curbed.

It is not a surprise that he is getting this opportunity. It was not expected to arrive so soon, though, or to come at such a high level. But that has been said before.

The Athletic - Fabian Hurzeler, set to be Brighton’s new head coach

I said “next few days” on instinct. I’ve no ITK that it’ll be Wednesday.
