If he was holding his head and the officials noticed this shouldn't the game have been stopped as he had a head injury? As he was off the pitch he could be treated there without stopping the game but then it seems odd that he could be playing someone onside

I would have had a lot more sympathy for that point of view had Panucci actually been injured; as it was he was (I believe) up and ready for the kick off. It looked more like a cynical attempt not to interfere with his teams offside trap by coming back onto the pitch, or attempt to get the referee to stop the game.

That could be the case but on the replay, he goes down straight away with his back to play. It's insanely quick thinking if that's the case

They shouldn't stop game cos he's off the pitch and no he's not affecting the offside when he's off the pitch. Similar thing at Crewe vs Albion a few yrs ago - everyone tried to attack the lino
