I think what ‘established’ means could be a generational thing. For example, most 20 year olds won’t see Portsmouth as a PL club, plus seasons in the PL will probably mean more to them than First Division seasons. To have more PL seasons than them may just make them rethink how they see us.

Bolton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers, Newcastle United and Stoke City always seemed like established clubs to me.

I think a 10 year stint is a period where neutrals start to think of teams as being 'established'

I remember thinking of Stoke as imposters for their first few years back at the top level but towards the end of their stay, despite many seasons of struggle they were part of the furniture so to speak.

We will never be recognised as an established Premier League club by the big clubs and their fans.

We are in the same group of clubs that punch above their weight such as Bournemouth, Wigan, Hull, Cardiff etc....

We are not really welcome, we are here for a brief period and the sooner massive clubs like Derby or Sheffield Wednesday return and take our place the better.

Yep. We could do 20 years straight in the top flight but the moment we dropped out of it we’re back to being irrelevant little Brighton, whereas Villa, Leeds etc could spend decades outside the PL and still be considered a PL/top flight club. Size matters.

We will have arrived when we are able to buy a Brighton shirt outside of Sussex.
I fear we have a while to wait.

European qualification or an FA Cup Final win may get us into JD Sports duty free shop at Gatwick, but we would still be in Sussex.

Yesterday on a Podcast I heard Burnley described as an established Premier League team who Fulham and Norwich should aspire to so I guess one more season for us then!
