Eating Vegetables.

I love meat and vegetables (and fish).
I think those who restrict their choice ie "must have meat" or "only veg" are losing out and verging on the stubborn/stupid.

Lots of veg = lots of goodness in my book.
I must have some form of animal product in there with them though, butter or cheese or a nice rich gravy.

A pepper, today.

Oh and I hate parsnips.

Without going into too much detail I'm finding red meat a little harder to digest as I get older.

Also, we have an excellent organic grocers here in Steyning High Street called The Sussex Produce Company and their outside display of veg is almost pornographic in its deliciousness.

Brussel sprouts are the devils spawn!

Not at all - they just have to be cooked properly. Not too hard, not too soft, just in between so they are FIRM. I'm proper fussy when it comes to sprouts, and usually INSIST on cooking them myself so they're just right.
Simply peel, cross the bottoms, and drop into a pan of BOILING water for 10-12 minutes with a sprinkling of salt and a dash of butter. Fabularse.

Non meat eaters live an average of 7 years longer than meat eaters.

As for "We've always eaten meat". Hmmm. On an evolutionary time-scale, we've mainly survived on nuts, berries, veg, seeds.

As for being macho, what a pathetic, narrow-minded view. But then again, that's only my opinion.

I prefer now to avoid as much meat as I can do, although I will eat it occasionally. I always feel more sluggish after eating meat, compared to after eating healthier foods.

I might make the opening game at Falmer then?
we became veggies (although we ate very little meat anyway) after going to the live export demo's at Shoreham and have stuck to it ever since,we both take plenty of vits as well.
good wholesome organic veg is very cheap in Wales

My most hated vegetable has to be MARROW. It's like melon gone wrong.

I love Sprouts, they are by far my favorite vegetable, but they have to be cooked well, not blanched or crunchy but mashed to a pulp, then they taste superb

Indeed. You might as well just eat the contents of your lawnmower.

I read this ages ago and have always wanted to share it with people. It was the diary of some Maasai warrior who ran the London marathon with his mates.

Kind of related to the thread - http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2008/apr/12/athletics.tanzania

My favourite bit:

Saturday April 5: a day out in Kent visiting a farm, training

I miss meat and blood very much. Not vegetables because they are food for a woman. There is milk here but blood is better because it gives energy. English tea with sugar is good and we tried Coco Pops, but the nicest food is croissants.

Glasfryn (or anyone else). Does anyone know how many other people who attended the protests at Shoreham have kept a veggie/ vegan diet? I only ask as the number of people I encountered who had made a change to their diet but it was a few years ago now.
