High up on the South Downs.
Daisy Daisy the coppers are after you
If they catch you they'll give you a month or two
They'll tie you up with wire inside a black maria
So ring your bell and pedal like hell
On a bicycle made for
2 4 6 8 who do we appreciate?
A L B I O N.

I think the singing started in the North Stand around 1965. That was one of the regulars.

Anyone remember others?

Oooh yes, there seemed to be loads of different songs in the North Stand in the early 1970s. A few I remember:

"In fair Brighton's city
Where the girls are so pretty,
I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone
As she wheeled her wheel barra
Through the street broad and narra
Crying:
*clap--clap--clap-clap-clap-clap-clap-clap-clap* BRIGHTON!"

And ...

"f*** 'em all
f*** 'em all,
United, West Ham Liverpool,
'Cos we come from Brighton and we are the best,
We come from Brighton so f*** all the rest!"

We also used to sing 'Knees up Mother Brown" as well!

Brighton. NOT KEMPTOWN!
To the song "Marching Through Georgia" (I think).

From the banks of the river Mersey,
to the shores of Sicily.
We will fight, fight, fight for the Albion,
'til we win division three.
To hell with Aston Villa.
To hell with Notts County.
Cos we'll fight, fight, fight for the Albion,
'til we win division three.

I remember this one sung on a regular basis from when I first started watching Brighton in 1965.
We got out of the old 3rd division, (the one we're in now!) in 1972, and the song disappeared for one season! It is now consigned to oblivion.

I remember a line of that starting something like "From the darkest corner of Selhurst Park..." ...?

Reading, I think, had a keeper called Dixon. He got his own song:

Who's that goalie with the big fat arse
Dixon Dixon
Who's that goalie with the big fat arse
Dixon is his name
In the goal all day
On the wife all night
repeat lines 1 to 4.

I also remember one from before the cup final:

"She wore, she wore, she wore a yellow ribbon,
She wore a yellow ribbon in the merry month of May.
And when, I asked, her why she wore that ribbon,
She said it's for the Albion and we're going to Wembley.
Wembley! Wembley! We're the famous Brighton [and] Hove Albion and we're going to Wembley!" (Repeat last line)

EDIT: I also remember singing Jack Straw's "Fight fight fight for the Albion!" song!

I used to love that song. Except I used to sing "Farewell to" (I was a nice lad).

I remember it as "Knees up Brighton town..."

If I catch you bending, I'll saw your legs right off, Knees up, Knees Up, Don't get the breeze up, Knees up Brighton town

and it was accompanied by massive surges down the North Stand terrace!

Finishing with:

"Oh my what a rotten song (shit!),
What a rotten song (shit!),
What a rotten song (shit!)
Oh my what a rotten song (shit!),
What a rotten singer too oo oo!"

And oi! house your seagull! A bit of respect please! We didn't fight and die in two world wars just so you young 'uns could mock us!
