A low block on steroids, this is as extreme as it gets. When we have possession, every Iceland player is literally 35 yards from their goal.

Never go a goal down to a team like this. As RDZ and more so Potter learnt to their cost many times.

The old question …. how can a RDZ, Southgate or Potter team breakdown an 11 man low block?

Much booing at half time. What would hypocrite Potter make of that? :lolol:

GuehI adjudged by Palace fans on fascist twitter to have had a good game despite
1. letting his man run behind him and not conceding only because the striker slipped as he shot
2. losing his man at a corner shortly after and only saved by Ramsdale.

He's played himself out of the team, hasn't he?

They didn’t against Scotchland.
Can't recall nerves ever affected Dunk. Shiteness did, but he has largely lost that from his game. He became a super shot stopper under Hughton, then learned to really play under Potter and RDZ.

One would hope so.

Southgate lifetime dream wank-fest, 4 palarse players appear, and we lose at home for the first time ever to f***ing Iceland.

And there wasn't a Calippo in sight.

He's a decent footballer, but not a good defender.
Has never performed well against us.

I don't get the hype at all.

One would think so… but…

Last night looked like a team of players scared to lose the ball by taking a risk in the final third, all safe passing and no real forward play, given we've seen those players perform this season, that must be down to manager instruction.

Trippier at left back will be a disaster, he's been a good England player, but he offered nothing going forward, he's had a poor season

Trippier's collapse in form has been precipitous. I'd play Gomez as LB until Shaw can be eased back.

Why didn’t Dunk feature last night when it looked like the whole remainder of the squad was on the bench? Is he injured?
Yes. A niggle.

Palmer and Foden were invisible - they really need to reproduce their club form if we have half a chance. Gordon did ok but with only Kane, who had a dreadful haircut, in the box shinning everything that came his way he was wasting his time.
Southgate has DeZerbiitis - 90% of passes in and around the holding midfielder and two centre backs is going to bore the pants off us all and get us absolutely nowhere.

Here is another thing. I have noted previously that when Rice plays he cramps Dunk's style and Dunk retreats to left back in no man's land. Rice is supposedly a top player. However he goes back too deep to needlessly fetch the ball then runs forward with it across the centre circle before looking for a pass. That is f***ing old fashioned play. Think Steven Gerrard but without the pace and raking runs towards the box.

The rest of the team are then all eyes on Rice as he Rolls Royces himself forward ("that player purrs with class"), and then, er passes it out to the wing where the winger has to face up to two defenders and so passes the ball back into midfield.

This is a long, long way from diZerbi ball, where a long high risk pass by Dunk from inside his own half is met by a player already in the position where Rice is trying to dribble towards, and makes an incisive one touch pass to the wing and finds an unmarked player and the ball can move towards the box super fast, catching out the low block. Brighton don't have enough elite players for this to work well sufficiently often. England do. And so?

It is as if Southgate has never seen such footballs, or considered such a wondrous marvel.
