Do you still think that we should have The Olyimpics

Don't know but would swap for the WC in a heartbeat. Obvious really on a footie forum to say that but there you are.

Would much rather watch our committed boys and girls win record medal counts at a home Olympics than watch England fail again in football. Its a pity the Amex wasn't built in 2005 it would have made a great venue for something..

Frankly I think it will be a financial disaster, good old Lord Coe is about as clueless as the average Tory, I doubt that he uses public transport. Recently I was contacted about a job on their IT support team. Frankly the money was utterly pathetic so I can see a lot of IT problems coming along with the events. (Apparently the low wages are offset for the 'honour' of being involved, some honour). However I wasn't likely to be considered as they won't look at people with TRAFFIC CONVICTIONS let alone anything else.

Given the amount of corruption and drug taking within the Olympics I find such an attitude more than slight hypocritical.

What on earth has it got to do with his politics? Unless of course there are no clueless socialists.

And I know Lord Coe does use public transport as a good friend was delighted to receive his olympic games tickets confirmation email on the train in London. He couldn't quite believe it because as he read the mail, Coe sat down beside him.

looking forward to it. Why shouldn't we be proud to host this Applied and got women's 100m final, same session as Mo Farrah, and Jessica ennis in the heptathlon, ( num num, smothered in gravy!) Fed up with negative criticism from reprobates and neer do wells ?

I suspect we will get a World Cup within the next 20 years when FIFA award it to somewhere that needs to build ten new stadiums and it falls through.

We could hold it tomorrow.

TWAT I do work for the Red Cross, and yes Palace do owe them money. They attend functions including sport events. Still, who isn't owed money by CPFC ? Oh, I was specifically asked about Traffic Convictions which is why I mentioned it. Seems to me that as you seem to think everybody lies it's a way of life to you :tosser:

Red Cross was never on the list of creditors of CPFC. There used to be a link to the complete list online but sadly its now been taken down. I checked when you first made the claim. And I simply don't believe you about being asked about driving convictions. All the stuff directly from the Olympics 2012 organisation specifically states that driving convictions are excluded. Why would a 3rd party ask for that information when it isn't required by the ultimate employer? It, as with most of your duller than dull posts, just doesn't make sense.

All this negativity, the Games will be fantastic occasion, didn't get tickets myself but will come up to take in the atmosphere and watch it in one of the parks. Watching Sally Gunnal and Lindford Kristie win gold in Barcelona was one of the best moments in my life. It's brilliant.

Bully for Lord Coe, unfortunately I have met him and when I questioned about the cost of the Olympics and what we would do with the various facilities he just flat out ignored the question. Granted that was about eighteen months ago but apart from West Ham getting the athletics stadium just what we we do with the other millions of pounds worth of facilities that have been built ? That is my experience of Tories and I am far from the only person who sees this as another financial disaster. I can guarantee he will be invisible once the much predicted financial chaos becomes public.

I suppose they could flog bits off to a phone company at a knock down price.

Listen you wank stain, you clearly see everyone as a liar because obviously you are one yourself. I mentioned the driving convictions question thanks to the absurdity of it in the first place. And frankly if people at the Red Cross tell me that Palace owe them money then who am I to call them liars ? You ? Frankly I can see your problem. It's in your genes. Don't believe your mummy and daddy when they tell you that they were married before your conception or when they tell you you're intelligent. Why ? Well anybody who calls me a liar is a stupid bastard.

Although I wouldn't watch the games if they were played at the end of my road just where did all the tickets go ? Everybody seems to be complaining that they couldn't get them. It brooks the question as to how many ticket when to corporate buyers. Does seem a bit much that the people who paid for this event (us, the tax payers) seem to have had very little opportunity to get tickets. On a more positive note, I hope the scarcity of tickets means that some money will be made from The Games.

'cos the World Cup is not about money, is it?

Of course it is, and the FIFA organisation is corrupt, but at least the sport it represents is worth watching and the finals can be held without bankrupting the host city.

You just need to go to Athens and see all the abandoned Olympic facilities with weeds growing around them. The whole thing is a pathetic waste of money; money we don't have.

Thought I'd add this informative article from the Independent. I think it goes some way to explaining why a lot of people fear for the overall costs of the Olympics. Frankly, for all it's spectacle I just can't see how the Beijing Olympics broke even but in fairness I think that we have been a little more conservative.

Sadly I have to agree with you although given the way Greece is run I am not surprised. For all of my doubts about our various administrations I don't consider them to be anything like as incompetent as the Greek administrations but I do have my concerns.
'm sure the local economy has had a huge and much needed shot in the arm but once the cheering ends what next ? I lived there just before the Navy abandoned the Portland Naval base and since then the local economy has imploded. It's just too far from anywhere to be viable for commercial use, these days you cannot even get a direct train from London to Weymouth. Whilst the competitors accommodation will soon be turned into affordable (and not so affordable) homes in London (as is what happened to the accommodation around Crystal Palace when the Commonwealth Games were held there) I know that there's no shortage of empty homes in Weymouth thanks to the number of ex Naval homes there.

As for affordable homes though, they might be to start with but they will soon be snapped up by property speculators who won't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Fact. The Red Cross was never a creditor of CPFC. It was not on the list of creditors submitted to the administrators. And why would the Red Cross, a charity set up (in their words) to help people in crisis be billing a football club? (Please avoid the obvious retort and answer the actual question) They don't provide services to football clubs, its miles outside their remit and would questionably be 'ultra vires' with their charitable aims .

As for the driving convictions you are quite simply bullshitting again. Standard CRB checks will not show driving convictions. Only extended CRB checks do and they take a lot longer and are a lot more costly. IT companies would have been asked by the UK Olympic Body to do the same checks as them. And, I repeat, the UK Olympic Body application forms ask for declarations of unspent criminal records excluding driving convictions.

You do this every time you get caught out - just ends up with the usual name calling and references to parentage. Why is that, Frank? You can carry on calling me names all day but it won't make your bullshit smell any sweeter. You sad fat f***.

The disruption to underground services has been going on for months causing huge problems for shift workers and loss of business to West end Theatres etc as people cannot get return journeys after the shows,It has been reported that those holding the two previous Olympics are still paying for them, which means TAXPAYERS!

From the Independent

It broke even due to far lower labour costs and compulsory repurchase schemes with no opposition allowed.

The red cross? Do you mean St Johns ambulance brigade?

Btw, I also think that the olympics are largely a waste of money and will possibly be a disaster for the taxpayer.
