Brief precis: Bitter and twisted Scummer with a Brighton obsession saying that he's NOT in fact a bitter and twisted Scummer with a Brighton obsession. A truly inspired piece of self-delusion. The rest of the thread is a few sensible posts, but sadly quite a few saddo Albion fans, cowed by years of being in Southampton's shadow, saying we should be nice to them and that he's got a point, actually.

As for the OP, he admits that Adkins made a very stupid statement... their chairman is also a prize tw@t with his 'The Southampton Style' winning comment... they have Harding, they have Hammond: both of whom showed themselves up in their behaviour towards the Albion... then there is the aged Spurs / Stains fixed game which, sadly, I am old enough to remember... we win promotion, then we win the league, which in turn makes Adkins look like the clown he clearly is... now we are supposed to 'stop it'... FFS... he will reap what he has so arrogantly sewn on Sat and, IMHO, quite right too...

BTW, there ARE plenty of arrogant Stains fans too, even if the OP doesn't seem to know any... just look at some of their earlier droppings on this site...

I'm sorry but as someone who had to live there for 4 years and still goes back every other week to visit my Mum, I find a lot of people in Southampton to be ignorant arseholes - there is something wrong with that town.

Just have a read of many of their posts on the Daily Echo website after 5 on a saturday, when it comes to discussing Brighton what you get is several pages worth of Homaphobic Hatred (i.e. last week) - can't believe it was still on there 36 hours later (if I was gay I would have reported their rag it to the police). Utter scum.

I can understand your dislike of Adkins. No, I can. You say we’re non-descript, plain and boring. Well, what are you then? Whilst I (used) to sympathise with your troubles, the excitement of winning the league at a canter has obviously muddled your simple minds. Too much sea air? Hahaha... it's funny you should mention that. I frequently get into arguments with my Soton-born friends who say that Southampton isn't an ignorant, arrogant or violent city and that it's actually quite nice.

I am the only one fighting the corner that it's a hellhole full of knuckle-draggers and pompous "look at me" stuck up student types.

I've been fortunate enough to visit and live in a few places and this is one point I do agree upon, definitely; there is something wrong with a lot of the people in the city, though I don't find it attributed directly to our fans. Simple manners like holding open doors, saying please and thank you and general common courtesy seems to be exclusively amiss here.

So in conclusion, yes, I wholeheartedly agree with that point. It's a feral wasteland... doesn't matter though, I'm off to live in Thailand at some point in the future
