I think Dean does a good job with what he is given - how much money has been spent on players etc - not a lot - I think half the problems since Christmas have been caused ny the chairman - Hopefully with a couple more players Dean and co can build a good squad as we had before Christmas - results don't lie do they - we had only lost to Leeds and Forest back to 29.9.07 before Dick's interfering

I have said many times and will repeat it Dean Wilkins is learning and APPEARS to get very little assistance from his assistants and needs an old head that he can discuss the game with as he appears to be tactically very naive.

what do you expect - one is a former tv salesman and the other was manager of a team that trains once a week

Could you see Wilkins handling himself with the dignity that Mark McGhee has this last couple of weeks ?

What a stupid pathetic comment, you don't know the Man anymore than I know you, yet you think it's acceptable to make personal comments about a hard working honest guy that you have no right to make.

You should have a long hard look at yourself!

Whitehawk trained more than just once a week - Also people say they have no experience - Dean and Ian played for the club for over 20 Years combined and since they stopped playing the game have continued to coach players - and before anyone says at what level - all different - including out of the country

I like Wilkins as manager and he's starting to put together a pretty decent team.

Well said mate Chappers and Whitey are good guys who put in long hours to help the Gaffer and the critics never see that work, they know the game inside out and are good coachs.

That may well be so but it is not how it appears when the team is playing. It appears that it is the blind leading the blind with nobody prepared to take charge and make decision.

You will obviously know better as previous posts have indicated that you are close to the action. We can only speak as outsiders and how it appears.

Simple fact is the manager needs to be in the dug out all the time.

Wilkins watchs the match from the other side for the first half so he can see the game from a different view - coppell used to do it as well

What ever stand and row he sits in it will still be at a higher level than the dugout

Comparing Wilkins to a DECENT manager like Mark McGhee is like comparing horse manure to ice cream.
In 18 months we have gone NOWHERE, don't look anything like play off CONTENDERS and Wilkins DIRE football is EMPTYING Withdean.

WILKINS MUST GO :angry::angry::angry:

Err wait a minute, part of the reason behind the fact that we were not play-off contenders was McGhee, how the Fu@k doyou expect to go anywhere as a team if you fall out with your best players to such an extent that they don't want to play for you and want to leave, CKR, Knight, McCammon for starters for instance.

Arsene Wenger would have struggled with what was left by the end of McGhees disasterous reign, in terms of the quality of the players still available, after McGhee Pissed them all off and they dicided it was better for them to leave than play under him. - name another manager who had players do the same while weve been at Withdean.

Wilkins has done well to rebuild the team from what was left, and to try to get them playing football again, rather than the hoof it to a isolated forwards, surrounded by defenders, but because McGhee has been a manager of another league club, thats alright.

Wilkins has tried to reintroduce the passing game to the team, and you can see the big improvement from last season in terms of the confidence of the players to play this way, whereas before (including under McGhee) it was much more panic hoofing and lack of composure. He needs the time, like Adams had before him, an I believe he can turn this side into challengers for the play-offs this season, and if we fail, serious promotion candidates next.

why, where does it state you are unable to manage a team if you arn't in the dug out? - the modern world has sparkly new inventions like a clever box like things that allow people to communicate accross a distance, no longer having to be standing next to someone to talk to them, it's called a mobile phone, who knows, if your very lucky and keep an eye out, you might spot one, it is the 21st century after all.

Innovations are what has advanced the game accross the world, so if watching the first half from a better view, and this gives the manager a better idea of what tactics the opposition are employing, whats working well, what opposition tactics are causing problems and how to counter it and also what would be worth trying instead, so that during his half time team talk, a time when the managers words can have the greatest affect on a teams performance, rather than trying to shout half way accross a pitch to a player, when the opposition can also hear new ideas and the tactics, and adapt to them. as there isn't a planned break during the second half, there isn't as big a need as the first half for such a high vantage point.

Maybe, as a result of managers being sent off in the past, and having to watch games from the stands, they realised that the better and wider view they get, means they are able to make changes for the better, the fans in the stands think they can see whats wrong, and what to change, and maybe (if you think about it,) maybe, the view helps a manager far more than the view from the dug out.

Out of interest, did you complain about this when Coppell did the same thing, or are you only having a go at Wilkins because you dislike him or because your a grumpy old git?

Don't have a go at Beach Hut. He is a season Ticket holder. This means that his opinion is more valid than non season ticket holders !!!
