Yes, always, have loads of scars from cycling accidents...admittedly most were when I was arse-ing around as a kid...might not give as much protection as the motorbike type helmet, but something is better than nothing...as for being worried what I look like, pfhhh.

I suppose all those people who don't wear cycle helmets don't wear seat-belts either. "Don't worry, I'm never going to be in an accident, I'm too good a driver/rider!":shootself

What have seat belts got to do with anything? You are legally obliged to wear a seat belt, you are not legally obliged to wear a cycle helmet.

I don't right now but yes I know I should so I will, deal ? In fairness I not only have lights I also have a HiViz jacket.

Yeah, that high viz jacket will work wonders protecting your coconut when it hits the tarmac :lolol:

Some might be better wearing steel toe-capped boots to protect their thinking gear...is that what we were thinking woodchip?

I wear one when out on my road bike. But that's just common sense, crashing at 30-40mph is gonna do some damage. (My top speed, ever is 43.5mph on this years L2B).
But I don't on all other commuting rides, of which there are plenty.

Yes, always. I experienced a Damascene conversion when I saw a female cyclist bleed to death from her head injuries in London many years ago, and went out and bought a helmet the very next day. It seems to me that there is really no excuse for not wearing one. Modern helmets are light and well ventilated. As for looking a tit, I am reminded of a piece of dialogue from the rather good French film Gazon Maudit. One of the characters justifies wearing a helmet with the line: "Rather look like a dick head than have a split head." (Admittedly, the translation in the subtitles was probably somewhat loose!)
