Some may scoff but it is quite feasible that Poyet could be looking at a couple of experienced ex internationals who in their day were household names likes those two to add experience to the squad as Kavannagh has for Carlisle and Sheringham did for Colchester, somebody like Nicky Butt and as has been mentioned Kevin Phillips.

That was just an example of an ex international as I couldnt think of others that could fit the bill but I am sure soembody will. An ageing ex international dropping out of top flight football but wanting to continue playing.

When we signed Bobby Smith in the 60s it was 6 months after playing for England at Wembley and it was then a most unexpected signing. Had NSC been about then and the possibility of signing him been raised everybody would have said the poster was stupid.
