Never sat through Easy Rider either though I like JN thought it was poor.

Easy Rider was made by people on drugs for people on drugs. To anyone else it's dated and dull.

And one that I'm amazed I've never managed to see, All About Eve

Has one of the best scripts in the history of Hollywood, perhaps alongside The Philadelphia Story

...and as for Marx Brothers films, well,I'd almost rather go to Selhurst Park.

Your loss.

I haven't watched any of the big films from about the 60s and back such as:

On the Waterfront, Ben-Hur, Citizen Kane, 12 Angry Men, Casablanca, Sunset Boulevard, North by Northwest..

Your loss.

As for me, I've never seen any Star Wars film except the first one. But then I'm not a kid, so why would I be interested?

Never seen ET for the same reason. Or any of the Harry Potters.

No interest at all in Avatar.

And I wish to God I had never been conned into seeing Babe...

Using the Uncle Spielberg patented measure of whether a film's any good - IMDB's top 250 - then the top rated films I haven't seen that aren't kids movies are Aliens (no.53, but then I thought Alien was shit), Into the Wild (no.140 - don't know about it. Is it any good?) and Witness for the Prosecution (no.150).

I guess the last of those is the only one I feel ashamed about having missed, since I love Billy Wilder's other work.

If you have them on DVD you should watch them as soon as possible. They're all excellent films.

The Matrix films, I'm just not willing to sit through a film for that long which I know I won't understand.

Watch the first one. It's really good, it's the other two that are overly complex rhubarb.

Never seen Harry Potter stuff (or read books) . Just don't get adults going loopy over it. Yeah, okay its a good film. Great. it's a story about Wizards for children. I am neither a child nor a wizard so have no interest in it.

I saw the first one, and was so bored I ended up chewing my own arm off at the shoulder.
I've given all the subsequent ones a VERY wide berth ever since.

I am always on IMDB, and I decided to buy and watch Into the Wild as it was highly rated ont here and yet I'd not heard of it.

Impressive directing from Sean Penn (I think it was Penn?) and yes, thought it was a very good film.

Care to elaborate on that, Truff ?
I think its one of the greatest movies ever committed to celluloid, I genuinely cannot fathom how anyone could class it as being shit.

I went to see it at the movies when I was 17. (One of only two 'X' films I ever snuck into under age - the other one was Kentucky Fried Movie if anyone cares.) I should have been the prime age for a sci-fi and horror hybrid, and I certainly have nothing against either genre. But for some reason I was bored and unmoved by it all.

I haven't watched it since. Maybe there are some subtle adult nuances in there that just went over my head as a teenager...

Edit: Curiously, I have seen Alien: Resurrection. Now that was really shit.

A Clockwork Orange - read the book though

The problem with the film of Clockwork Orange is not that it's a bad film. It's not, in fact it's pretty good. But the fact it was unavailable/unviewable for so long built it up up to a mythical level that it doesn't match up to.

It's good, but it's not great. Kubrick did much better (if you overlook Eyes Wide Shit).

Resurrection is indeed a pile of gubbins.

I think you should give Alien another chance though. Its more of a slow-burner than the more ballsey Aliens, and much better for it imo.
Sounds a bit like my 'Reservoir Dogs' syndrome - I went to the cinema expecting an action-packed violent bloodbath, but left the cinema rather underwhelmed and disappointed by it. However, after further viewings on DVD it is now firmly lodged in my All Time Top Three, and is unlikely ever to be usurped.
