Where was Sainsburys? There was a half-decent restaurant called "the Solarium" at the back somewhere upstairs.

Sainsburys was sort of at the yop of the escalators as you went down in to the ghetto.

And it was the Solarium too!!

We're leaving together
But still it's farewell
And maybe we'll come back
To earth, who can tell?

I guess there is no one to blame
We're leaving ground
Will things ever be the same again?
It's the final countdown...

We're heading for
Venus and still we stand tall
Cause maybe they've seen us and welcome us all
With so many light years to go and things to be found

I'm sure that we'll all miss her soIt's the final countdown...
The final countdown...

That's them!!!!!!

Though they were wearing more denim than leather &, of course, armed with a fistful of Ski yoghurts to see them through a night's hard partying :lolol: :lolol: :lolol:

God, it really was a post-war horror, wasn't it?

I remember buying my first ever single (Simon Says, by the 1910 Fruitgum Company, fact fans) in the WH Smith record place on the corder for 45p.

Crivens TCOPB that first came out in the 1960s. I do not believe you are that old!!

Does anyone remember the wishing well at Churchill square? I still look out for it and feel sad that its no longer there.

It was a classic meeting point. I remember asking my first girlfriend to meet me there.

Wasn't Fosters Menswear next door to WHSmith record shop?
Remember the Mods gathering outside HMV on a Saturday.

On the lower level there was a shop there that dealt in school uniforms..

I hated it, new uniforms were always bought at the end of the summer holidays.

Looking at those pictures has reminded me of it!

I remember being dragged around the shops when i was very young (still in a buggy).

I remember wanting to go to Early Learning Centre and my mum wouldnt let me and then we were walking past that pub.

Dont know why but i remember that but it must have been over 15 years ago.

Is definitely a great site..

For any current or ex-Portslade pats, do you remember the old playpark area in Easthill Park.. it had a f*ck off massive climbing frame and a death slide. I think it was taken down just after the hurricane and they relocated the playpark to the other end of the park, but made it all rubbery!

I can't find a pic online of the old playpark area for the life of me...

I remember there was a massive Poll Tax demo in Churchill Square one time. Some of me mates were shitting themselves - cos they were developing Poll Tax IT Systems for BT in the first floor offices right above the demo. Serves them right :D

There was a Macfisheries in there too, on the corner as you went in on the left hand side. I remember Smiths had brilliant air con.

Was it Chelsea Girl that had a cafe downstairs?

I can STILL smell the "boiled sweets" aroma that permeated the main WHSmiths back then..but what was the school uniform shop downstairs at the back called?

I seem to remember getting my first school uniform for Falmer upstairs at HORNES on North Street. Only time though as it was soon obvious that NO-ONE wore the official uniform.

Lush, do you still have it at all?
