Well, perhaps you should go tell the people in the gambling thread then that their mates who committed suicide were not in any way impacted by the betting industry being all over them 24/7.

Tell those who had family members dying from smoking that bans for tobacco ads shouldnt have come earlier. Tell those who died, or killed, from drinking that the governments allowing and getting in bed with alcohol ads didn't cause any harm.

Our governments and big businesses are the main reason people are struggling in this world. People like you are the secondary reason: pretty sure you've caused a lot of harm, self-harm and suicides in your days, through your actions and utter contempt for anyone who isn't looking, thinking or feeling like you do. Now, of course I'm also guilty of some of that... but at least I kick upwards - I hold governments and big businesses accountable, you blame the average man for the difficulties they face.

Zero covid has never worked anywhere in the world has it, even in isolated rural backwaters like NZ. How could it ever work? Every ship, every aircraft that comes into contact with a country is going to contaminate that country, and all the testing in all the world won't catch every case of covid.

So, perhaps before you start coming out with nonsense like the Chinese and Western governments having an equal record on genocide and human rights you might want to take the number of people in China who die of obesity, lung cancer and suicide due to gambling debts and add them to those shot in the back and thrown in pits by Mao, the Uighurs currently being murdered, the victims of Tiananmen and all the Chinese thrown in jail for trying to write or read stuff and being tortured and killed.

I suspect then you'll get a slightly bigger number.

It is a peer reviewed psychology model used by education professionals and criminal profilers.

Yours is a load of old blah trying to make out that because something is true of one group, the opposite must be true of another. That’s not how information and data works.

- Colonialisation with a unknown number of direct deaths and a further number of deaths resulting from disrupting and impoverishing these societies, resulting in famines and disease
- We have started 100+ wars killing people left, right and center. Total number of deaths is difficult to estimate obviously but is many, many millions.
- We've sold millions of weapons to terrorists (which we have also trained a lot of) causing quite a number of deaths

I'd say the Chinese would struggle to get anywhere near our numbers even if they tried.

Arguably a lot of people in any debate come across as "smug and all knowing" when you don't agree with them, which could be normal consequence of people arguing from the standpoint of their thoughts and beliefs rather than taking the position of "I have no opinion and perspective of my own".
