He will be mad to employ either of them. It needs a big name AND someone who can deliver on the pitch. Something that neither Poyet or Zola have done yet, not at the highest level.

The story kind of eluded to Chelsea needing a football identity and bringing in someone that players will respect. So the obvious conclusions I guess

It's only speculation, the independent haven't spoken with abramovic, so it's only the same as we see on here every week.

Di Matteo?

Which is why neither will touch it with a barge pole while Abramovich is there. If Rafa is sacked they will have got rid of 4 out of the last 7 CL winning managers. A joke of a club with John freaking Terry as captain too. A few year down the line maybe.

Don't be stupid, either of them would jump at the chance.

This is just a comment/opinion piece though and contains no direct quotes from anyone at Chelsea. Poyet won't even be on their shortlist so it's not worth worrying about in any case.

You have lost the plot. Are you seriously saying that poyet would turn down his dream job because of a trigger happy owner. There are very few managers in the world who would not take the chelsea job. Gus would snap RA hand off if the opportunity came up

Why would Chelsea get rid of Di Matteo for Gus?

Di Matteo, hardly any managerial experience, but used to play for Chelsea

Gus, more managerial experience, used to play for Chelsea. It isn't a huge leap to see why Abramovich (how many spellings of his name will we get on this thread) would go for him.

RDM had managed in the Prem before going to Chelsea. As for GP, if Chelsea are serious about producing a team that have an ethos of attacking over caution then perhaps GP isn't the man they want.
