As someone who suffers from visual snow too, there are potentially dozens of causes for it. When I first complained to the Doctor about it in 1994 I was sent to a specialist who didn't believe me and gave me eye drops. There is very little understanding on the subject. They don't really know what causes it, so I'm surprised you're able to narrow it down to LSD type drugs.

Having said that, in my case I was guilty of doing some LSD, but only in small amounts

No, they are known as floaters. Unlike floaters, visual snow doesn't really exist physically.

Nothing worse than a succession of floaters passing before your eyes.

This appears like the dots that appear when you have a fall or rise in blood pressure perhaps through fatigue, tiredness or something. Not exclusive to MDMA freaks.
