Bring back Dean Wilkins

Yep thats how I feel, I hate this "papering over the cracks" nonsense that some people say.

No. I read on here yesterday (from THPP) that Wilkins "fluked" 7th place last year so it must be true. He fluked the whole season. He is clearly rubbish. I'm just glad we sacked him otherwise he may have fluked the title this year and then how stupid would we look?

Well point i totally agree a manager does not get a team to 7'th without being a decent manager,a fluke is a one off thing anyway considering we played 46 games thats hardly a one off:albion2:

I agree. What I don't understand is that some people who correctly say that finishing 7th last season wasn't a fluke, but that MA did fluke signing Zamora and winning League 2, which was also over 46 games.

Perhaps both of them were decent managers?

I haven't read all of this debate, but the last few posts have summed up my feelings towards this debate.

We will never know what would have happened if Wilkins were left in charge. Counterfactual evidence is a bitch. Historians are still arguing over what would have happened had America not used atomic weapons against Japan (i've just written a 18,000 word dissertation on the subject). The fact is we'll never know for sure.

Wilkins may have got us promoted, Wilkins may also have got us relegated. The only this we can guaruntee is that we would have inclusively finished somewhere between first and twenty-fourth in league one.

This debate could go on for ever...
