Brighton defender Tommy Elphick fights for new contract

From Gus's position he needs to build a squad with cover in all positions. Elphick fits the bill a young lad with experience who can only get better.

He'll only get better by starting but there is no way the club would loan him out. It's a difficult position for both club and player.

I'd extend his contract by a year and see what progress he makes, just look at El Abd he has come on in leaps and bounds no reason Elphick can't make the same progress.

At the start of the season it was El Abd who was going to be the reserve but he showed great attitude and commitment to grab his chance. Tommy has to do the same when his chance comes, as it will.

Glad to see that he has spoken to Gus about his position.

Seem to recall someone "in the know" a while ago suggesting, rather critically, that he had no contact with Gus.
