Not sure what your taste in literature is but I read the time travellers wife on my last trip, was an excellent book, definitely one that is hard to put down.

Excellent book, I've re-read it a few times now.

It's well worth another read as the film is due out this summer.

Less Than Zero by Brett Easton Ellis.
Lovely story set in LA featuring lots of booze, lots of cocaine, stuck-up yanks and Betamax's.
What more do you need in a book.

Plus if someone can tell me the best Cloughie book thats out, as there are quite a few to choose from.

Cheers in advance

I've only recently read The Damned United, but enjoyed that. Am now reading (on the same topic) Provided You Don't Kiss Me- 20 Years With Brian Clough, by Duncan Hamilton. Seems a pretty good read so far.

I'd agree with the P J O'Rourke recommendation from the first page.

Plus 'War With the Flowers' or 'Shadowmarch' by Tad Williams and 'Freakonomics' by Stephen Dubner and Steven Levitt.

If you want to get into very funny fantasy books that also make you think: Terry Pratchett
For amusing writing, particularly travel: Bill Bryson
Good thrillers, often with a legal angle: John Grisham
Evocative, nothing much happens but in a richly entertaining way: Alexander McCall Smith's Ladies Detective Agency series
Music memoirs: Mark Radcliffe - Thank You For The Days; Nick Mason (Pink Floyd) - Inside Out; Jools Holland - Barefaced Lies and Boogie Woogie Boasts

Just a few to get you started :jester:

Six Suspects - Vikas Swarup
Agree with Shantaram and the Kite Runner.
Any Harlan Coben books if you like crime mysteries.
Mark Gimenez is good if you are fed up with Grisham.
Short History of Nearly Everything or Mother Tongue by Bill Bryson
Some of Clarkson's rants are quite good if you like that sort of thing.
The other half has been raving about Pillars of the Earth and World Without End by Ken Follett.

A very-old Sherlock Holmes keeps bees and comes out fo retirement to try and find a mute Jewish boys missing parrot who keeps on reciting German numbers. It's well good
