Has he GONE yet??

Dougie Freedman is expected to be installed as manager of Bolton Wanderers by the end of the week, reports BBC Radio Manchester.

Crystal Palace granted Bolton permission to speak to the 38-year-old about their managerial vacancy, having turned down their initial approach.

It is unclear whether Freedman will be in charge of Palace for their game against Barnsley on Tuesday.

that's got to be a little disruptive?

Silly old bat
I quite understand wanting to earn more money and go to a "bigger" club but it just seems to soon...just cause I can put a plaster on my childs knee doesnt mean I am ready for brain sugery!!

I hope he stays and proves himself as he will be given a lot of rope by Palace fans, not so sure about the Bolton fans as it seems most of them dont want him to start with.. I must admit I thought he was a better man than this! but Ho hum.

Careful, I'm almost starting to feel sorry for you.

if he does go, what does it say to any prospective new manager? a long term stalwart of the club, just managed to get his team looking presentable but off at first club to bat their eye lids. and to a club that is basicaly in the same position albeit better ground. says you dont want to be around the club, its not going anywhere, doesnt it?

oh well :lolol:

Not a surprise that there are other interested parties, he's doing a bloody good job at the moment at Palace. I very much doubt he'd want to leave, but he'd be flattered by the approach.

He's currently in negotiations over a new contract. This can only help his case.

RT.

As a palace fan I am staggered that Bolton are even looking at him TBH, he has had a good run of 8 games (which we shipped a shit load of goals) I was not damanding for his sacking but at the end of September..what was it 3 wins in 27!! if he had gone I would not have been suprised.

Just shows the only loyal people in football are the fans.

To be fair, there's a Palace blogger out there who reckons DF is on £125k a year at Palace. He seems to think Bolton are offering £1.5m. I don't care how loyal you are, for that kind of pay rise nobody's going to turn it down.

Though the blogger did rather spoil his argument by suggesting that Palace double Freedman's wages to £250k then he'd DEFINITELY stay.

Maths not a strong point in Croydon, perhaps.

Please dont do that :)...I have supported them for 40 years..seen the managers, players and boardroom change, the only faces still around are the ones I sit with, and if it wasnt for them and all the bitterness and swetness that goes with football fans of all clubs I wouldnt bother myself!

onwards and upwards / downwards but allways Crystal palace whoever takes charge.....in saying that a certain Mr Mullery tested us in the early 80s

I like these 2 quotes from bbs as to why the turncoat should stay

" Life really isn't that bad. He is at a club that supports and loves him and more over challenges him to succeed fairly and via a sustainable business practice which is the only future for football."

"CPFC is along with a small select group of football clubs an effort to create a better sustainable future. Like the doping in cycling debt is football's disease, football's curse."

why would he go to debt ridden Bolton with their massive parachute payments when he's already employed by the very humble upholders of football morals?

Wait...is that a Palace fan lecturing other clubs on the evil of debt? :lolol:

The Bolton offer is reputed to be £1.5m over three years.

£1.5m for 3 years. And sure, it's a big pay rise you're unlikely to turn down, but that's not the point. The point is that Palace fans here kept saying how Gus was using us as a stepping stone and would be off as soon as a big club came, while Dougie would be loyal to them - the opposite has happened, with the one exception that it's not even a big club that have lured him away.

Is he really only on that? Bearing in mind how much players get nowadays that is ridiculous.

No wonder he's going. Closely followed by Zaha to Bolton.

Would love it if he left, as the Palace fans see him as some sort of messiah because of the playing career he had there as well.

I'm pretty confident that the good lord Poyet wouldn't even give the time of day to the owners of Bolton.
