Having just got FourFourTwo and the best/worst pullout, thought i would start a little debate. Is Bobby Z the best player in the history of the Albion??
God like yes but personally i'm not sure that he is the best ever...

I can think of five or six players at least that I would rank above sir Bob. The obvious one being Johnny Crumplin.

Best in recent years, but could not cut in in the Premiership.

My best would be Mark Lawreson and Michael Robinson (scored 20 + goals in Div 1 (now the premiership)

His record doesn't compare with Peter Ward.

Also, Dean Saunders, Gary Stevens and Lawrenson all did it at the highest level.

And SIR Terry Connor scored for the England U21s, unlike the Bobster.

Agree with most of the above. Has to be Mark "I'll be back in a murment Gary" Lawrenson. Or Peter Ward or Michael Robinson... Or...

Bobby was maybe the best of the last 10 years...

Not by a mile ....

Bobby was superb for us in Div 3 and Div 2 ... didn't wholly prove himself in Div 1 (though we were better when he was playing)

But like others there are many former Albion players who I would rate more highly ... the most obvious being Peter Ward ... and Kit Napier, Jimmy Case, Steve Foster, Mark Lawrenson etc etc

Bobby Z is indeed an Albion legend (similarly to Micky Adams) because his goals took us out of the mire and to two successive championships ... but not the best ever player!

What about mr small,he bopped a few in :lolol:

Zamora is a legend, but the big boys title has to be in the top leagues end of.

peter ward it is:clap:

Surely Bobby Smith must rate a mention here.

He had just played as centre-forward for England when we signed hin the old Division 4 (aka League 2)

Today that is comparible with Forest Green Rovers picking up Michael Own from Real Madrid on a free!!!!!!!!

There haven't been many better in my life-time but I can still remember Steve Foster in his second spell with us whilst on the terraces at the Goldstone. I suppose it would have to be him for me.
