Have to confess, I had a scenario 12 years ago.

My surname begins with B, and my wife always wanted, if a boy, to be called Harry. after her grandad.

So naturally I chose the second / middle name. It begins with A.

Turn it round, what has he got?

It was in the latter 70's, and I'm wondering what became of him and his legionary daughter!

Obviously her favourite player was Augustus "Gus" Caesar ex Arsenal and Col Utd.
She would have no difficulty becoming a centurion as the Albion play everywhere.
She would approve of a phalanx defence providing a shield for the goalkeeper and would witness pyrrhic victories like Brentford away.

Naming your cat after the Albion or a player, I can understand - but naming your child and saddling them with it for the rest of their lives, I just don't get - I was discussing this very issue the other day with my nephew "Washington Roundabout".

My daughter calls her car Gus, she chose the number plate with GU at the start and a S as one of the last three letters - my success as a father has been bringing her up the right way as far as sport is concerned.
