But then again, the Sex Pistols version is much better than the Sinatra version.

.

That is a joke right?

Which album is that on? Just about my favourite ever Spingsteen song.

I got it off a freebie CD of Springsteen cover versions which came with "Uncut" mag. in 2003. According to the liner notes it comes off the Band album "Jericho".

Good, but still doesn't compare to the versions with the E-Street band that I have heard.

Cheers. Will have to get that, as The Band are probably my favourite band (first two albums and Northern Lights...in particular).

A few posters have mentioned covers of Knockin' on Heaven's Door. An honourable mention should go to Warren Zevon's version on his final album, The Wind. The song's all the more poignant as he was dying of lung cancer at the time.

Just reminded me of another the sublime cover version of Warren Zevon by Don Henley Searching for a Heart on Enjoy Every Sandwich

Always thought 'suspicious minds' by the fine young cannibals was a good cover.

Best is Hurt, a Nine Inch Nails cover by Johnny Cash.

Although I havnt heard it Patty Smith's recent cover of Sympathy for the Devil is pretty pointless. What can you do to that record to improve it?
