This subject crops up with amazing regularity. Still, I love reliving some of great gigs.

Can't believe I haven't seen Bad Manners down as anyone's favourite. So here you go -

2nd best: Bad Manners at Bradford University, 1982

Ah, I knew I'd seen The Saints at the Roundhouse but I thought it was at another gig: they were pretty good.

I have a few records by them, always thought they could have made it big.

U2 at Milton Keynes bowl back in 1985 supported by REM, the Ramones , Billy Bragg, Faith Brothers and Spear of Destiny.

Queen at Knebworth in 1986 (supported by Status Quo, Big Country and Belouis Some)

Rage Against the Machine followed by the Levellers on the main stage at Galstonbury

Lots of great smaller gigs - hard to pick a favourite - Bruce Sprinsteen (solo gig) at the Royal Albert Hall was pretty special

Ultravox at the Brighton Centre in 1983 (my first gig)
Saw Doctors in there home town of Tuam
REM at the Brixton Academy a couple of years ago (warm up for Glastonbury)
Simple Minds at Wembley Arena
U2 at Earls Court
U2 at the Birmingham NEC in 1984
James at the Brighton Centre
Pogues at the Brighton Centre - fantastic gigs in December for about 3 years running - seeing Kirsty McCall doing fairy tale of NY live with Mr McGowan was special
U2 at Wembley Stadium suported by Lone Justice and The Pogues
The Prodigy at the Brighton Centre (loudest gig!)
The Levellers at the Richmond then the Zap then the Event
Marillion at the Hammersmith Odean many times
Big Country in the early days at the Hammersmith Odean (play some songs twice as didnt have any more to play!)
A band called IQ at the Richmond and then the origianl Marquee in London
Stiff Little Fingers (first final gig) at the Event
heineken free festivals in stanmer park - Levellers and SLF
Shane McGowan at the Fleadh festival in London
Manic Street Preachers (orginal line up) supporting the Levellers in anti Nazi festival in Brockwell Park, Brixton

I could go on and on but U2 are my top live band, seen them at Birmingam NEC, Milton Keynes Bowl, Wembley Stadium a few times, Earls Court x2 , Rotterdam, Heysel, Croke Park x2, Twickenham x3, hampden Park, Celtic park, the Millenium stadium (with the roof on!), cardiff arms park....i think thats all
