Well, as a general rule if you're pissing yourself laughing at his camp antics, it's less than scary.

Well, as a general rule if you're pissing yourself laughing at his camp antics, it's less than scary.

Understandable, but in the less-than-deadly-serious contexts of the two films I mentioned earlier, I think his style works better than a straightforward dull, boring bad guy would have.

The way he plays the Sheriff of Nottingham (and Gruber to a slightly lesser extent) as borderline Panto villains works for me, but I could understand why people might dislike it also.
