Cream - Sussex University, late sixties.

Hendrix - also at Sussex University

The Doors - Isle of Wight

The Beatles - Maney Church Hall, Sutton Coldfield, early sixties

Thinking about things, maybe I need to get out a bit more these days.

:lolol:

 Blimey, thats quite a line up ...

Not sure I want to post my faves now, makes Slayer at Portsmouth Guildhall in 93 look a bit inconsequential:lolol:

The Stranglers at the Cardiff Uni in 1984. This was a 'secret' gig that they played as a warm-up to a UK tour. The purpose of the gig was to give the band an opportunity to play loads of oldies that they were going to use as encores on the tour. They opened with 'No More Heroes', and then Hugh Cornwell announced that it was going to be a request show from there on in. For around two hours the crowd shouted out their requests and the band played numbers from their back-catalogue, including several of their more obscure album tracks and b-sides.

Quite simply marvellous scenes.

Ground Zero, 1997 or 1998, at the Tolbooth, Stirling. One of their last gigs (and their last-but-one in Europe, I think). Truly astonishing - and I have never seen an audience react in such a visceral way. Even the Herald reveiwer, with years and years of experience of some legendary gigs in Glasgow said it was the best gig he had ever been to.

Mmm, probably the Pixies/Throwing Muses double-header tour that I saw three dates on. 1988 I think it was. New Order have done some pretty awesome gigs too... Blue Aeroplanes were always good fun...

Just bought a ticket for Luna today, their last ever UK date, on Jan 17th. Can't wait.

Excellant band not to be missed

SAW DOCTORS at their best:

:drink:
To win just once

To win just once would be enough
For those who’ve lost in life and love
For those who’ve lost their guile and nerve
Their innocence, their drive and verve
For those who feel they’ve been mis-treated
Discriminated, robbed or cheated
To claim one victory inspired
To win just once is their desire

To win just once against the odds
And once be smiled on by the Gods
To race with speed along the track
Break the tape and not look back
To never have considered losing
As if to win is by your choosing
Bare you soul for all to find
An honest heart and an open mind

To Win just once
That would be enough
So come all ye full-time small -town heroes
Cast away your in-bread fears of
Standing out from all the rest
The cynics and the pessimists
The self-indulgent almost rich
The blatant hurlers on the ditch
Time is passing so come on
And face the ball, the game is on

:drink:

Audioweb - University of Glamorgan
The Divine Comedy - University of Glamorgan
Senser - University of Glamorgan (got blatted on Diamond White during this one!)
Pusherman - University of Glamorgan
Madness - Guilfest
Beta Band - Guilfest
The Stranglers - Guilfest
Alice Cooper - Guilfest
The Darkness - Guilfest
Love - Guilfest

The Who-Hammersmith Odeon 1976
The Sex Pistols-Hastings 1977
The Clash-Sydney 1982
Midnight Oil-Sydney 1981
INXS-Sydney 1980....In a grungy underground club before they became pretentious 'superstars'.
More recently...This year the Levellers accoustic gig at Horsted Keynes this summer was something special.
