the guardian have given us their thoughts.

1 LCD Soundsystem: Sound of Silver
2 Radiohead: In Rainbows
3 The Hold Steady: Boys and Girls in America
4 MIA: Kala
5 Klaxons: Myths of the Near Future
6 Kings of Leon: Because of the Times
7 Grinderman: Grinderman
8 Battles: Mirrored
9 PJ Harvey: White Chalk
10 Feist: The Reminder
11 Arctic Monkeys: Favourite Worst Nightmare
12 Robert Plant and Alison Krauss
13 The Felice Brothers: Tonight at the Arizona
15 Les Savy Fav: Let's Stay Friends
16 The Good, the Bad & the Queen: The Good, the Bad & the Queen
17 Britney Spears: Blackout
18 Bruce Springsteen: Magic
19 Josh Ritter: The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter
20 El-P: I'll Sleep When You're Dead

for me, panic prevention comes close but would probably have to settle with in rainbows - another masterpiece.

The Klaxons one or "Ten New Messages" by The Rakes for me. Both excellent.

Hard-Fi - Once upon a time in the west

End of discussion:thumbsup:

I found out today that I actually dislike people that like Hard-Fi. We've got a new member of staff here and they mentioned they were off to see Hard-Fi on Monday. I haven't spoken to her since and will be taking everything she says in the near future with a pinch of salt.

The best album of 2007 is Cross by Justice or, at a push, Hey Venus! by the Super Furries (though it's not their best). I would also include Playtime is Over by Wiley purely for the production values.

good year for ladies

Charlotte Hatherley, Feist, Siouxsie Sioux & PJ Harvey all quality

other highlights

Broken Social Scene Presents Kevin Drew - "Spirit If.."
Grinderman - Grinderman
Go Team - Proof Of Youth
Iron & Wine - The Shepherd's Dog
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Raising Sand
Dillinger Escape Plan - Ire Works
Robert Pollard's two albums would have made one excellent album if he could edit his releases a bit more - but he can't

However, there can only be one winner and the overall Pevenseagul Album of the year goes to .............

drum roll

Soulsavers -"It's Not How Far You Fall, It's The Way You Land" which is f***ing magnificent

I've had the pleasure of previews of the upcoming Bob Mould, Drive By Truckers & British Sea Power albums and can happily report that 2008 is going to get off to a flyer

In Rainbows, I reckon.

Honorable mentions to The Enemy, Dizzee Rascal, Wu Tang, Paramore, Kate Nash, JayZ, Manu Chao, Reverend + Makers.

(and I really like Newton Faulkner as well, despite knowing that it makes me a GAYBO)

mine would have to be:

1st- Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
2nd- Patrick Watson - Close To Paradise
3rd- The Good The Bad The Queen - self titled
4th - Interpol - Love To Admire (a bit hit and miss though)

(Re: Soulsavers. I caught them live at Latitude and i was bored stiff. A massive disappointment as i'm a fan of Mark Lanegan).
