In fairness people were "slating" (bit of an overstatement, imo) before he signed.

Changed your tune a bit SuperGreens, last week he was too good for us now he's the worst striker in League 1.
I reckon Barnes will get 20 goals or more. I'm really excited that we singed him, really good piece of work by Gus.

As a secondary striker he probably is. Not as the main striker though...

From what I saw of him last season looks a 15-20 goal player,that is if He gets enough game time, a great addition to the squad to back up a fit Murray and another 1st choice striker.

Seeing as Brighton fans have seen him a damn sight more recently than you have, in this instance I'll take the views of those over yours, ta.
perhaps you think of slating different to i do A theres plenty on here saying he's not good enough think you should have another look
perhaps hes not up to it yet but should'nt everyone wait and see
i think hes been brought more for the future anyway
what a difference a few weeks makes eh, you said we didn't have a chance of getting him, well now we have and as gus has been after him on a permanent deal for a while i think you will find that with decent coaching he will turn into something a bit special. i for one am more than happy with our latest addition who has already showed he can play the gus way.
as for how many goals he is capable of i say give him a chance and don't pressure the poor bloke, he's already been more successful than a certain mr davies, and with plenty of goals from midfield and a few from our fulbacks i am feeling far more confident than last season with our new look team starting to emerge
