then he wins , what do you want me to say ? i'll be honest that i dont know enough about it , but does the president really have the power these days ? i dont think dubya has , he's just a puppet controlled by the neo-cons from my limited knowledge, would the same go for obama? as for palin? i more than happily would, but it really irritates me that she is being mocked for among other things having christian beliefs in a way that commentators wouldnt dare do to a muslim.

So you want McCain to win but you dont really know why. But you also keep bringing religion and race into the discussion.

Look , I know you think you're being very clever , "subtly" trying to get me to say i want mccain to win because he's white, well do me a favour because you're not subtle and you really dont come across as very clever either, certainly compared to some of the other left wing posters on here , in other words leave "subtle" and "clever" posts to people who are funny and good at it !! Also where do i "keep" bringing religion and race into it ?

bushy, you want McCain to win, purely because you think it'll be funny to watch the response on here? Do you not think your view should be slightly more high brow than that? This election has a pretty big influence on us. If McCain gets in and leads us into another war (against, for example, Syria), will you still think it was worth seeing him get elected just so that you could see the rant that Herr or Brovian posted?

I TELL YOU WHAT.

I would love a good old socialist winning this election. In fact a week ago the Republicans were saying if you vote in Obama, and the democrats in the Senate and House of Representatives. It would be like voting in European Democtratic Socialist. Well that would be cool. At last the US having a liberal economy, a welfare state and health system the envy of the world.

But alas its only Obama.

His messages to the world are positive, he recognises, that the US is part of the world and its actions presently causes hatred and dislike.

For his own people, let alone the world lets hope this man can deliver a foreign policy that is not imperialist and respects independent nations and its people.

I really am not trying to be subtle or clever or trying to trick you into saying anything. I'm just highlighting a few observations. I guess today's Herr Tubthumper assessment is preferable to some of the other remarks you have made about me and others. All that stuff about me being a failed public schoolboy was plain bizarre. Why do you always get deeply personal and insulting instead of discussing the topic in hand? I raised a couple of measured observations, please counter them in an appropriate way if you feel an injustice.

BTW You've mentioned religion today. And you were blathering on about race at great length last week. A number of your posts last week had a racial theme to them.

Obama at least has some idea of why there is a (growing) amount of Anti-American feeling in many parts of the world. Most Americans simply can't understand why the rest of the world doesn't love them to bits.

But Americans do not exactly have a good track record in understanding other nationalities

I have also spotted another trend: you get angry, then get personal...then stop replying to the thread.

Spot on and by the way Obama is a Christian. Palin is not being knocked for being a Christian she is being criticised for being a Creationist, "end days", corrupt, self-regarding, uber-right wing nut job.

Barack. He will win aswell. John McCain is just another trigger happy war lord, the republicans are scum and dangerous. Palin is a milf, but she is SHIT.

HT dont try to come across all hurt and bewildered , you're a past master at getting personal, you're posts while not directly personal were intended to belittle , and you didn't make measured observations , they were insinuations, there is a difference.

I think Nick Robinson is due to be replaced as the BBC's political editor , thinking of throwing your hat into the ring ?

rOBINSON hasn't got that throw away attitude, but there something about Palin.

How many POlitical candidates can there be, especially inthe US, which are:

1. Hated.
2. Fancied alone the lines of a dirty weekend.
3. Considered to be dumber than bush.
4. Nutter.

Yeah right. Obama will do the bidding of the neo cons or else he will have a car accident. They don't shoot people now

It's probably correct not to get carried away with the idea of Obama as a Social Democratic knight waiting to slay to the neo-con dragons (or even pigs with lipstick) but the combination of his voting record and the depths of the crisis in both the US economy and it's foreign policy at least suggest the possibility of some progressive change.
