Im having a meeting with my bank tomorow about getting a loan and im quite nervous.

Ive bever done anything like this before so i thaught Id turn to the Vast amounts on knowledge that NSC holds within its members!

What should i say/do and what should i avoid mentioning?

Thanks in advance!

Best to decide what you want and more importantly do the re-payment terms suit your life style.

Is it to be secured against anything, also avoid paying an insurance on it as normally the small print will ensure you get no cover.

Depends what you want it for. I would suggest Money Saving Expert as the best place to get advice on loans etc Ali:thumbsup:

Wouldn't worry mate.Banks want to throw loans at you. They will be more happy if you took a bigger sum out then first agreed.

I tried at least 3 times with them and everytime i was turned down:angry: .Lloyds threw it at me with credit cards, debit cards etc.The only downfall was the high interest rate for my loan a few years back.Around 13%

Im getting it with Halifax (not everyones favourite bank on NSC at the mo) but ive had an account with them since i was born and they can see that ive got money coming in every month.

Another thing that someone said to me was to look at a credit card, as i only want £3000 and he said i could try and get one of those 0% APR things but i think that is unlikley!

What about Ocean Finance? I hear they do a good deal ;)

Seriously. Thats good advice. Don't take out any insurance because it costs a fortune and its BOLLOCKS.

You can get a 0% APR credit card but you will have to transfer it around every 6-9 months and pay a 2% t0 2.5% transfer fee every time you do (£60 on £3K). Finally and obviously keep the APR as low as possible.

People who do that are called "card tarts":)

Thanks for everyones advice, I think I'll just keep it simple as knowing me i'll f*** something up with all the swapping with cards/accounts etc...

And its only £3000 so i should be able to pay it off within 2 years hopefully!

Seriously mate, have a look at the website I linked in my last post. The site is superb for all sorts of things and will advise you of the best place to get a loan if that is what you require. There is no point paying something at 15% APR when you can get it for much less. What are you buying? A lot of places will offer you 0% APR for things like I did years ago when I bought my MR2. much better option than borrowing £3k form the bank.
Hope it goes ok whatever you choose to do mate.

I will have a flick through that in a mo, thanks.

Im buying a car and it needs some work doing to it (about £500) and i thaught i might aswell pay off the insurance for a year aswell.

After having a quick flick through a couple of pages im even more confused than before!

I think i'll wait for the old man to get home and ask him to translate it for me!

Thanks though B.M.F, that looks like it could be of intrest!

does nat matter what you earn, what you owe (though this helps) all that matters is your credit rating, if its good enough you gat a loan, if not does not matter what you say, how much you beg i'm sorry you won't get one, so don't worrry its decided already

Just borrow £1500, then take it down the Rendezvous Casino and put it all on BLACK. Nice cheap loan then
