Did anyone else email him?
Didn't expect a reply, but here it is:

Question: Mr. Baker,

I don't know if you remember me but in the summer of 2004 I spoke to you
on a bench by Falmer pond whilst you were undertaking you 'baker bus'
campaign tour of the constituency. I was talking to you about the
proposed stadium development and was frankly shocked at your lack of
knowledge on a subject you were so publicly vocal on. You had a poor
grasp of the history of the matter and I even had to tell you the name
of some of the sites. You only really began listening to me when I told
you that I would never vote for you or your party. I remember your
colleague insisted on sticking around to listen to me as he obviosuly
had no confidence in your ability to answer my questions.

Can I just say, today, I am absolutely delighted. I went away that day
in disbelief at your utter utter lack of knowledge. You wasted your
time.

UNLUCKY, YOU LOST.

his answer:

Dear Mr Luckin

Thank you for your e-mail, and yes, I do remember our conversation.

I don't accept that I was ill-informed. Nor were the profeesional and
independent planning inspectors whose reports supported my view. To pick
up your last point, you never waste your time if you stand up for what
you believe in.

Yours sincerely

Norman Baker MP

I couldn't agree more, I was very impressed that he replied, he needn't have as I wasn't expecting it.

I would say this shows he is a good bloke after all, but then I remember he ISN'T.

I have written to him on a few occassions and he has always replied within the week. I know he picked the wrong side in our stadium war, but he is still the best MP Lewes has ever had in my opinion.

Woohoo, well said Winston sodding Churchill. What a man of integrity, pig-headedly ignoring a referendum result and the views of many of his own constituents.

Actually, I have a point of principle too: I fu*king HATE the Lib Dems, especially Baker's bespectacled mate in Bath, David Belloti.

To be totally honest, Baker is a very good campaigning MP who supports his constituents 100%

He was wrong over Falmer, very wrong, but he was still a good enought polictican to get re-elected and the reply shows that is the case.

Replied to me too.

''Dear Max,

Thank you for your recent email. It is more civilised than many I have received from supporters of a stadium at Falmer. As far as the question of a judicial review is concerned, this is a matter for the district council.

Yours sincerely,

Norman Baker MP''

Gloating will do us no good and will give further thought to our opponents about trying for a JR. We've won permission and we're all delighted but to shove it down the throats of Baker et al is pointless.

Baker is not anti-Albion. He just didn't want the stadium to be at Falmer. I saw him at several games at Withdean a few years back.

Which is something he said to me but he changes his story when he feels like it.
One minute he is perfectly happen to accept the decision of the public inquiry whichever way it went and the next he is going to look into whether his constituents can get legal advice about a Judicial review.

Might I point out Mr Baker that you have a lot more constituents who are for the Falmer site for BHA than the few villagers who are against it? What about consulting some of them?
The hypocricy in opposing a development in another MP's constitutency whilst ranting at the Eastbourne MP for questioning developments in Newhaven is astounding.

Don't forget, Baker was re-elected DESPITE Falmer, so therefore the majority of constituents support him as an MP.

However, we should move on now. At least he had the decency to reply.

With a greatly reduced majority. He lost 5000 votes.
