Read up.

BBC have amazing chopper pictures can see right into the fire

very close to the high speed rail link according to sky news, also saying businesses in area have been reocated due 2012 olympics, looks suspect

The Chunnel Tunnel link passes thru the Olympic Site, and goes underneath Waterden Road at its southern point. Near to the junction with Carpenters Road. The bus garages are on the middle left on Carpenters and top right hand side. And next to a travellers camp, which I believe have not yet moved!!!

Looks like from here its dampening down, though still feeding lots of smoke into the air, the local dogs don't like it, we are perhaps 2000 metres away.

Lovely day for it, barely a cloud in the sky, at least beforehand. Glad it's nothing too majorly unpleasant.

These are big bus depots, 1000 people employed, so you just can't walk in with a flaming torch, 24 hours operation - finding them a new home was a bugger - though the River Lee Navigation, is directly behind the factories. Lots of closed premises in the vicinity.

At least now I know why its lovely bright sunshine out the front of my house, but murky and browny-grey out the back...

HOpe those firefighters are taking care in light of the recent warehouse fire tragedies...

I learnt something in that BBC article too:

He added that the north-westerly wind was "fairly light", meaning that the plume would be blowing south-eastwards.

Thought a North Westerly was blowing north westerly!! oops!!

I like the comment from the BBC site:

"Samson Bereket was taking his children Nimrod, three, and Michal, one, to play group close to Victoria Park, when he saw the blaze.

"I saw smoke going up and up and then I saw the flames. It looked like a really big fire so I took my kids home quickly," he said.

Hopefully, when his children are eight and six, they will be back for an altogether more enjoyable visit to the area - when the 2012 Olympics get under way. "

I'm sure Nimrod is looking forward to school!

Lol! You couldnt blame Nimrod if he wanted to be a pilot when he grew up - just to get away from his parents!

just seen my first aerial photo, it might be attached, thats 35 Waterden Road, two warehouses there, one distributes second hand rags and the other an old chinese food place etc.

Passing by the warehouses is an canal still open to the public, though there is a 10ft fence there?

Nevertheless this area has had loitering and breakins for years and even since the businesses were removed.

North westerly means the wind comes from the north west going in the opposite direction - bloody confoosing weather people!!!

Best to rely on the eye witness reports. Some guy on the news described it something like..."I looked up and it was, like, smoke"

I think they cut the interviewer saying "No shit, Sherlock"
