Gib not only feels like a bad English town, but the Spanish side of the border represents the worst of Spain too. La Linea is horrendous (and dangerous at night).

We ventured by taxi into Gib on numerous evenings whilst on a golf holiday (based in Alcadesia) during 2006 World Cup. Watched couple of England games in the big square (full of Navy ratings as HMS Cardiff was in). Rough as you like.

Saw an armed copper get bitten by a barbary ape during our only trip to the top of the rock.

Interestingly the Gibraltarians dislike the English and Spanish equally (we found). They want complete independance, and dont mind letting you know about it.

My advice, go visit, tick it off the list, don't expect too much.

Do not book at the place near the passport check in walk down to the new area where the casino is and definitley ask for a cheaper price you can always get a few quid off.

But do go with the yellow boat (docked opposite a sports bar) because the red tour boat pack so many people on you can hardly see the Dolphins!
