Anybody Know Of A Decent Tapas Bar In Brighton?

To be fair the one at Brighton Marina does very good food at a reasonable price, but it does have that cheap marina feel to it unfortunately.

I wouldn't recommend La Tasca but have often been tempted to duck into Don Carlos, with all these good reviews I shall have to make sure of it

Is that one along western road still there above the Greek place. Can't remember what it's called now but it was good. Actually I think the Greek place was called Ipanema?

That's right, Greek downstairs, Spanish upstairs. Not tried the greek part but upstairs is decent.

The Greek is just as good. Give it a go.

La Tasca's good but Casa Don Carlos is better, very authentic.

Buzzer, where's this Thai Tapas, sounds very interesting? ???

It's just behind the Sussex Pub in the little square down and east of the Druids on the left. V.nice.

I've just been asked if I knew of a good tapas bar in Brighton

Tom, you and I used to be working class heros. We were going to smash the machine and free the people. (well, to be fair, you were going to smash the machine and I was just going to keep watch as I didn't want to get into any trouble).

And now you here you are, asking for recommendations for tapas bars in town. I don't feel like I know you anymore

Christ - you think that's middle class sell out. You wait until you have children at school.

Then you really get to be a complete sell out!

What school, which area, who are their friends, what do their parents do, after school activities etc etc

Bry, you know me, raconteur, bon viveur and champagne socialist, who enjoys a drop of Cava with his whelks :drunk:

There's really no need to be bitter. Nobody MADe you live in Essex

Casa Don Carlos is the absolute tops. The proof? See how many Spanish people you see in there.

I'm always mildly amused by this - it's like recommending McD's to a foreign visitor because there are so many British people in there. :)

But Don Carlos is good - if you can get it in.

As other people have said, La Tasca is total pony.

My favourite is the one opposite the Corn Exchange: it only sits about eight people - and you have to be good friends - but the food and the wine is top notch. Can't remember its name, although I'm sure there's a letter in it - something like Bar D.

Casa Don Carlos in the Lanes next to the Bath Arms.

Good food, nice wine, always very busy and attentive and sometimes chatty staff. Best Patatas Bravas in Sussex.

Pinxos People opposite Waitrose has had very good reviews but I've not got round to trying it yet.

What he said.

This is the place. Far more authentic than the others.

Casa Don Carlos - v.good

The one at the Marina (El Patio, I think), avoid at all costs. Possibly the worst restaurant I've ever visited.

Dalis, pretty good, and sometimes they have pimientos de padron on the specials sometimes.
