Other than Hinshelwood Rix has got to be the worst appointment we could make.He was at the game on Saturday so these rumours have credibility.

I can't see why eveyone thinks Dowie is such a prospect. What makes him so good exactly?

I've said this before but it shouldn't be someone from within the club. We've had two disasters, we don't want a third.

Whoever it is, they're going to be under pressure to deliver automatic promotion. At the start of the season I think most of us would have settled for a play -off place but now we should expect to go straight up.

Rix has no track record, Cotterill plays terrible football and can't speak properly and Tony Adams would be a big gamble. So who is there with a proven record of getting teams promoted, working with no money and with knowledge of the division? Tricky one.

1. Contacts
2. Leadership
3. Loyalty
4. Drive and hunger
5. Experience of management on a shoestring
6. Experience of managing in Div 2
6. Playing experience at the highest level
7. No need for big compo payment.

Dowie is the only man who fits the bill. The only sticking point may be tactical nous, which was Coppell's forte.

Good managers don't necessarily make good managers do they?

And when has Dean Wilkins managed a club? Did I miss something? Running the youth team is hardly the same is it?

Football Genius - Dean Wilkins was great for us as a player and is undoubtedly a fine youth team coach. But we've had two insiders as managers in the past few years and both were disasters so we mustn't go down this road again. We need someone with a proven track record and Wilkins just doesn't fit the bill.

Any other suggestions?

I hope it not Rix, we can do better. I remember when Hoddle was at Swindon, he turned a long ball side into a passing side, but methinks he will be too expensive.
I think Kinnear could do a good job. Also I'll throw Lou Macari's name into the hat. He's been out of the game a while but still has plenty of contacts and tactical nous.

I do NOT want to see Hinch anywhere near the bench on Saturday!!!.
