actually reading that article on bbc it looks like he mights stay :(

why would Palace call the press conference ? surely it would be the team that buys him
this actually seems the more sensible option sadly :( unless they are explaining the reasons for sale etc , etc....

He was watching Bobby Zamora.

Perverse £8m for Johnstone. Or £8m-£11m for Owen?

I would put £10m price difference between the pair. And that's no disrespect to Palace Scum.

Looks like Goodison will be a home from home............

Fenerbahce 5, Everton 0 (Echo) Aug 1 2005

Rob Brady At The Ataturk Stadium, Istanbul

WITH a Champions League debut just over a week away, we can only hope this result serves as a wake-up call for the Blues.

Fenerbahce showed the standard required if Everton are to mix it with Europe's best. On this evidence they threaten to fall well short of the mark.

Admittedly the Turks were ahead in their pre-season preparations, but only by a week. At Istanbul's Ataturk Stadium on Saturday night it looked more like three or four weeks.

Results in friendlies count for very little, of course, but performances do and this lacklustre display leaves Evertonians with cause for concern as the season fast approaches.

The Merseysiders were simply outclassed. They had no answer to the cut and thrust of their opponents' play.

I think he'll stay because
a) Only Everton seem to be the slightest bit interested.
b) Nobody seems to want to go to Everton.
c) Even if he's in the Prem' he'll be behind Owen, Rooney, Defoe & now Crouch FFS!

I actually feel slightly sorry for him, because when that Swedish twat gives him a chance he then plays him out of position. Plus of course he's stuck at Palace!

(If he does get a move to the prem', I still don't think he'll make the World Cup squad).

What Smudge said.

He's not England class. Best for him to knuckle down and shoot the Eagles to glory.

We still have a good forward line in Makcen and Freedman as we are no one man team in this division.

Having read the reports, I can't see why Palace would call a conference, announcing that Johnson, Dowie and the shy and retiring chairman would be present if they were going to sell him.

At the very least Johnson wouldn't be there, he'd be slinking off north to whichever club has the greatest need for a specialist penalty expert while Simon Jordan whinged endlessly on to the press about agents, disloyalty in football, how he personally is responsible for every little success at Palace ever, and how hurt he feels that Johnson has ruthlessly betrayed him, the saviour of his career, in the evil pursuit of money.

Jordan has deliberately announced the press conference a day early so as to gain maximum publicity for himself out of it, as usual. That way, Palace fans will be so anxious by the time it finally comes around tomorrow, they will be worshipping the ground he walks on when he announces that absolutely nothing has happened and the situation is the same as it has been for months, ie Johnson is going nowhere.

I hope I'm wrong.

its a no lose time for the palace

if he stays its goal rush time

if he goes its £8 million big ones for a player who cost £750,000
which can be invested into a strong squad already
