How can an average player who was only awarded player of the season because he tried not because he was an outstanding footballer treat us like this.
I dont want players playing for our club who dont care.He is trying to get a move to Leeds,Huddersfield etc when we have apparently offered him a great 2 year deal for a player of his limited ability and there should be a time limit on him to accept and not just sign for us as a last resort

We are better than that.......I have lost a lot of respect i gained last season for A Whing.

Finally do we really need a player who would not be good enough in the championship as he cannot even pass the ball.

Rant over.

Trying to do the best for himself. Shocking.

I voted for him doesn't he realise that he owes me.

If we could find another specialist right back who'd sign for us, I'd happily see Whing sling his hook, he really isn't as good as so many build him up to be, wholehearted yes but good? No better than average overall imo.

A VERY average Right Back at league one level. Yes he is a tryer and that made him stand out for the last 3 months last season as the rest of the team could not give a toss.

Another example of BHAFC over inflated ego and delusional about own ability syndrome that afflicted, Leon Knight, Dan Harding, Bas Savage, Mark McCammon, Alex Revell. Its a shocking illness it really is.

I really hope he does not sign as at best he is a good league one right back who cant cross or pass a ball and you are right he just looked ok as he tried.

Quite frankly OGH is a better prospect at right back.

Tackles like a JCB, can pass a ball really well, has more pace than most Premiership full backs, can overlap and cross a great ball.

Mr. Whing can sling his hook for me.

Step in Gary.

FFS what is wrong with a player who is out of contract looking at the options.
Absolutely right, he is an average lower league full back who stands out from the crowd because of his committment. He doesn't earn superstar wages so will have to carry on working somewhere once he stops playing in his mid 30's - he needs to earn as much as he can now if he has any sense, to create a pension fund and a buffer against potential future unemployment. Would anyone here do less for themself and their family?

What a load of old tripe.

Whing never looked out of place in the Championship for Coventry.

If you thought you could earn an extra 50K or more per year, then you'd explore the option wouldn't you? Especially if you had a young family to think of.

Whing is an employee, and employees in most fields get headhunted. If the club had wanted to avoid this, they shouldn't have let his contract run down.

Whing is an adequate right back but not irreplaceable. However, he's a professional footballer and is perfectly entitled to get the best deal he can as any of us would do. The fact is that if Whing was not wanted he would be shown the same level of loyalty by the club as he is showing. Can't blame him.

I like Whing and his undoubted never say die attitude.

He has every right to consider his options to better himself, get more wages etc etc.

But I do think we are being played for fools as a club. A deadline should have been set (maybe it has?) for him to agree to our terms or all bets are off.

If he then reconsiders after any deadline then we can look at our options and we can be in the driving seat.

He owes us nothing, we owe him nothing.

Same goes for any player we offer a deal to.

Disagree- although I suppose when I last saw him at right back was before last season when he suddenly started playing well again.

When played at right back by (?Dean Wilkins) I think he was AWFUL!

I disagree about "more pace than Premiership full backs" - he's not that fast

He's not a great tackler- wholehearted yes but you can hear the crowd wince everytime he slides in- it's 50/50 if he'll actually take the bloke out! Which then gives away freekicks in a dangerous area.

On top of that, he doesn't even want to play at that position anymore.

Sorry, but he's awful there, truly awful.

Pork pie land.
Two things:

IF we have actually made a GOOD offer, the guy is out of order - possibly because of Adams going?

IF the offer is not that good - another trow-back to the Dick Tight era - why not if we want to keep him?

Because we have to give him a contract offer that matches his ability/potential.

I would like to keep Whing but wouldn't break the budget for him. Have nothing against him looking for better offers but needs to commit somewhere soon, and I feel sure that whatever our offer was it is a good one.

Absolute nonsense and typical of the attitude of some on here that as soon as a player leaves (or even before he MAY leave in this sense) he's suddenly derided as being useless. Despite in this player's sense being voted player of the season :shootself:

I am sure the club have offered Andrew a contract in keeping with his ability and worth . Andrew needs to reflect on his options.....that's surly how it is done,is no fault business. We will be the last to know....which is correct !

f*** sake, give the fella a break.

Leeds United have enquired about his services, he's waiting to see what happens up there. Should Leeds then drop their interest - as looks possible now they've signed whatshischops from Northampton - there will be a greater probability of him re-signing for us. The end.

I don't think he has treated us shabbily at all.
