I'm 'tainted' from my time in Newfoundland...I only know Great Big Sea... but then again, I haven't really kept up with contemporary music since roughly 1995.
To me, Great Big Sea are Figgy Duff v2!

Having been to Paradise in Newfoundland - there's not many 'parking lots', but there's really also not much of a traffic issue. Get it together Joni.A song in which she complains that they 'paved paradise to put up a parking lot' - a measure which actually would have alleviated traffic congestion on the outskirts of paradise.

This is the "Hey Jude" of Joni's oeuvre, along with "Both Sides Now". I prefer her jazz period, 1975-80, supported by Metheny and Pastorius (!!!), but Blue, Hissing of Summer Lawns and Court and Spark are fantastic transitional albums.

True -- even fully bilingual, native French-speaking Montrealers probably wouldn't have heard of Monty Python. I grew up in Eastern Ontario in the 70s and 80s, immersed in 5 cultures -- Québécois, French Parisian, English Canadian, American and British. In those days, that meant TV, movies and popular music.Weirdly no, 49. I just assumed that Canadians from Quebec don't understand British humour.
