Only the Southern Californian Tree Frog goes "RIBBIT" all other frogs bark or yelp or don't make a noise at all.

The reason everyone subconsciously thinks frogs go "RIBBIT" is because the Southern Californian Tree Frog is native to Hollywood and their sound was recorded for a film in the 1920's and has been kept as a sound recording used for frog sounds on thousands of films & TV productions since.

I hope that's true.
