Now reporting delays up to 2 hours.

Could be a long evening...

What the f*** is going on with the railways these days? These threads have been appearing seemingly daily since Xmas.

Why dont you all just get a car? Its so much easier and you dont have to 'mix' with other people.

Have you tried driving from Brighton to the centre of London?

PS what does your village do when you're away for the day?

Got caught up with the delays today.

It would be better if they were consistent with fault as well, had to pop from Burgess Hill to Three Bridges to get a new motorbike battery.. On the way up it was a signalling problem at Balcombe & on the way back it was a power supply problem at Purley

It wasn't too bad for me in the end Brighton station is wall to wall with people though, must have been 200 or so people standing around in there when I walked through.

Major power failure - would love to know whats caused this, ill ask my person in the know at Redhill as they may know how long this will last for - probably a big job since this started at 1PM.

Coastway lines are also all buggered up because of this - expect short trains in the morning at the very least - FFS Network Rail.

Also doesnt help that the lines through Redhill are closed due to engineering works.

UPDATE: no horrendous delays on the journey front back from lv, however all trains heading this way are running hour late-was aiming to catch the 8:06pm train to Lhampton & Bognor however ended up on the 7:06pm which left LV at 8:06pm, so there shouldnt be any delays catching trains back from London now...if that makes sense!

Oh joy. They have been appalling lately. Delay repay does not make up for it (and the calculation they use for it is a con)

Its a combination of problems affecting a couple of signals as well as an earlier power problem caused by a power cable being cut due to a problem with a rail - will/should be fixed by tomorrow morning unless Network Rail decide otherwise, then it is them so it is possible.

Had the line through Redhill been open, delays would have been at maximum 15 minutes - but because that was shut and the remaining lines had to be closed whilst repairs were made, there was nowhere for anything to go. Seen reports of fights between passengers at Worthing, East Croydon and Victoria as well, also a report of a member of rail staff being assaulted by an angry passenger - absolutely no need for that.

I could make an exception for the CEO of FFC though.
