Billy Lane should be on that list. He was far too important and had such an impact in the Albion's history to be merely labeled 'Other.'

If I ever win the lottery in a big way, I will seek permission to erect a large bronze outside the new stadium based on the picture that launched the original 'use your post code' campaign. The photo shot was of Peter Ward, Gerry Fell and Sammy Morgan during an Albion game.

I would call the statue, 'Where's the Goldstone Ground gone.' If somebody is able to post a copy of that picture on this thread, I'm sure that you will see where I'm coming from.

I agree. Billy Lane

Billy Lane is a good call.

But what about Mike Bamber? Turned the club around and along with Mullery did get the club to Division 1...

£75K might just about buy some clippings from Tracey Emin's pubes.....perhaps we could put them in a frame above the tunnel for the players to touch as they run out?

Wardy Wardy Wardy. The most inconic player to wear an Albion shirt. It has to be him.

Perhaps we could get Damien Hirst to knock up a bit of Modern art called, 'Heads of Archer, Bellotti and Stanley preserved in a tank of formaldehyde'.

Nice Idea.

Or howsabout the bronzen heads of of Archer, Bellotti, Stanley & Cuttress on spikes being consumed by the 'Eternal Flame-Thrower' from below?

If it's a player then it has to be Wardy but i'd love to see the Goldstone set in place on the approach to the stadium, set in a flower bed and so we all have to walk past. Very green!

Also, in regards to bronze statues, we don't want another Steve Ovett where some pikeys come around and nick it.

As each generation has their own heroes to nominate, the list of possible candidates for a statue is far to long. There is only one possible piece of art that I'm sure B & H City Council would accept £70 Grand for, and that's to move the Goldstone to Falmer as a symbol that, We Will NoT Be Beaten. You could stick a Bronze Pheonix on the top of it.

The Goldstone is Albion's spiritual home and for many generations of fans it will always be an intrinsic part of the club.
Whatever else we do with Falmer - whether it's through art or through a name - we have to bring the Goldstone with us
