We have seen two Championship winning seasons, three in the second level of English football, and other then 99/00 and probably this one our fate has not been decided until the last game of the season.

I think that is incredible ! how many clubs would kill to have such exiting seasons so close together, can't wait to renew my season ticket this week.

Hopefully next season Withdean can be a fortress again in League One.

In our last three seasons in the bottom two divisions we've won a staggering 19/23 (2001), 17/23 (2002) and 17/23 (2004) home league matches!

If/when we go down, I fear we will have a big relegation battle on our hands.

Shit and derision, Glover - we're not that bad.

I agree. The squad is good enough. But I dont think we have the right man in charge of the first team. Sorry.

I am 100% behind McGhee and want him to lead us out in Div 1 in August but due to circumstances we will struggle next season. Do not expect an immediate promotion as it aint gonna happen.

There is a widening gap starting to build up between the Championship and League 1 both financially and skillwise - so if we were to get relegated the current team would be in a good position to bounce straight back up (probably going down the following season if we dont discover anyone).

Listen, mush.

Our recent history has shown the level of football we are capable of achieving. In the last two seasons that we have spent in the division below, we have finished first and fifth (or was it fourth?). That was under the same horrific conditions we are currently playing under - if not worse.

We now have increased financial benefits from playing at Withdean, an increased capacity, and fewer overheads as a result of the Public Inquiry (albeit there is still a £90k bill in front of us) and we'll be playing some pretty ordinary teams.

So stop being so defeatist, ya bleedin' misery, and accept we would do pretty well (top half minimum) if we go down.

Are all your horseracing tips as confident and optimistic as this?

Before we got Withdean we were still in Division 3, now called League 2.

We should do OK if relegated however revenue will be lower as less away fans and we cannot fill the home end with Championship football.

Also I expect a large drop off of season renewals which may well prove a turbulent summer to finance.
