I know we are all in happy land at the moment, and nothings going to change that, but I'm interersted to hear peoples views on the booking fee for online purcahses.
Other have asked the Insider, and have not got an answer, or just the will pass on reply, but I asked more directly and got this
No, it has not been removed. There are costs associated with all ticket purchases made online, regardless of whether a paper ticket is issued and/or sent by post - including credit card charges and a royalty payment to the software company for each transaction. Unlike other clubs and events, the club only charge £2 per transaction, not per ticket, and as a result, for multi-ticket purchases the club actually ends up subsidising online purchases.
Now, far play to the club for wanting to generate as much income as they can, but this charge is a bit strong in my opinion.
No postage, so they are saving money there.
Credit card fees apply online or offline. So pointless to use that as a reason other than to pad out an answer.
Can't really comment on the royalty for the software, but would suggest if its that high, then shop around boys!! Surely its linked to the ticket counter software, so would suggest it doesn't make much difference as I would presume they would want a "cut" for using that software as well if that was the case.
Online there are no staff costs unlike in the ticket shop.
So apart from the royalty, what are these costs for taking online bookings, that warrant an extra £2 fee, that wouldn't be charagable for in person bookings. Surely the royalty can't be as high as staff costs, if 15000 of us went down to buy our ticket in person?
I understand it probably costs to set up the ticketing system online (not a lot judging by some problems people have had), but then so does the ticket shop software. Its linked,so basically the same software, expect the nline system doesn't have a dozen staff running it!
Not really a moan, as I will still pay it to get my seat for Liverpool and other cup games, I just don't think its a charge the club should be making for an automated transaction
