Me and the missus have worked out we are £2000/year worse off than this time last year with the rise in
Gas
Electric
Council Tax
Fuel
Food
Mortgage rate rises

And i can only see it getting worse.
That's why i can't afford to go to my beloved Brighton and Hove Albion.

Your daughter would blame that First Century Palestinian revolutionary chap who so upset his political masters in Rome, and who had his life story re-written by the Spin Doctors of their time, 260 years after his death.

This situation will get worse as and when people re-mortgage I am afraid and any leisure activities such as footie etc will be the first to go.

Petrol / diesel is too expensive, council tax is spiralling out of control and now so are home fuel bills.

Coupled with every other stealth taxes a portion of the country may well go bust this year which will then affect house prices.

Stormy weather ahead on the economic front.

And how is David Cameron going to set the price of gas, electricity, council tax, food or mortgages? The government don't have control over ANY of these things, and the price of petrol would still go up even if it wasn't heavily taxed.

As gas and electricity are companies privatised by the Thatcher Governments, food producers are private companies and building societies are also private companies, how exactly are all these price increases the responsibility of Gordon Brown or his (admittedly crap) Labour government.

These are private companies in a market/capitalist economy whose purpose is to maximise profits. If you're a Tory, you should understand and support this, not whinge about the government.

If Brown intervened to stop these price increases, you'd be the first to complain about government interference and meddling.

I'm genuinely sorry that you are strapped for cash, but this is the free market which you Tories worship.

never worked it out to know, but a moron in the village went through voa and got the local listing officer involved and had their home rebanded. in a lesser band. bully for them, he got a refund of about £2k. they then did the whole village and put our council tax up. so we're definitely worse off in that respect.

Whereas under a pseudosocialist government here, I've 140 a year more in my hand due to the recent tax changes, fuel is much the same as 6 months ago due to the Euro's relative strenght, my health insurance has gone down due to increased competition, my motor tax is falling heavily in July, the (state owned) gas board and (state owned) electricity firm I use have both cut prices...

"Socialists" which are fakes are clearly worse to live under than fake socialists :p

And theres no council tax but you do have to pay to get your bins collected (by volume).

We have tried that avenue and unfortunately for us we are in the right tax band.

Your moron was probably listening to Martin Lewis on radio 2 (he was suggesting that a lot have houses have been wrongly banded) the same as me!!

Have you or someone extended it or was it just put in the wrong bracket originally???

we have extended and while it's fair we pay more i just like to complain. just about every house was rebanded here, some went down, some went up. the guy told me originally in 1990 i think when the bands were bought in, one guy just drove around in a car giving the bands out. not sure if that is true as we did not live here then but seems a pretty dumb way to do things if so.
